Morning Rundown: Pirates sign Adam Frazier, Paul Skenes on the cover of MLB The Show 25
Adam Frazier returns to Pittsburgh, MLB The Show cover is announced
The Pittsburgh Pirates made another signing Tuesday morning, adding Adam Frazier on a one-year major league deal.
Frazier, 33, was drafted by the Pirates in the sixth round of the 2013 draft out of Mississippi State. He was an All-Star in 2021 when he hit .305/.368/.411 with five home runs and 10 stolen bases, playing for both the Pirates and Padres.
He was traded at the deadline in the deal that brought in Jack Suwinski, Tupucita Marcano, and Michell Miliano.
This will be his fourth team in the last four years, playing for the Mariners, Orioles, and Royals since the trade to the Padres. Last year he hit .202/.282/.294 with four home runs with Kansas City. His wRC+ has also plummeted in each year since making the All-Star game.
Defensively, he was worth a +5 DRS at second base, -1 at third, and a +1 in right field.
Paul Skenes will be one of three players to grace the cover of MLB The Show 25, joining Elly De La Cruz and Gunnar Henderson.
He becomes the second Pirate to be named to the cover for MLB The Show, joining Andrew McCutchen back in 2013. Preorders for MLB The Show 25 begin on February 4, with a release date of March 18.

We have monthly and yearly plans available, with the latter costing an average of $4.16/month.
Big-market Royals sign Carlos Estevez for 2/22. It's just not fair for Nuttin to have to compete with these teams that are swimming in oceans of money.
Here I was thinking the Pirates were going into 2025 with too many second basemen, but BC has found a way to add still another. Yes, 2B was still his primary position last year, but he played in the OF also, and we get another LH bat into the lineup? That's a hope, but Frazier brings a slash of .202/.282/.294/576 OPS from 2024, so not really sure how much that LH bat will provide. Two whole points above the Mendoza Line?
It just makes perfect sense for the Pirates. Here's some more horse pucky for you Pittsburgh!
