Morning Rundown: Prospects who improved their stock, next top prospect in system
MLB Pipeline talks Pirates next top prospect in system
MLB Pipeline released multiple articles over the past few days, looking back at one prospect from each system that improved their stock from the 2024 season and another predicting who each team’s top prospect will be at the end of 2025.
Bubba Chandler was picked as the player in the Pirates’ system that improved his stock the most during 2024. He entered the year as a Top 100 player, yes, but by the end of the season, he finds himself as one of the top pitching prospects in all of baseball.
The other players in the division that the article mentioned:
Milwaukee Brewers - Jesus Made
St. Louis Cardinals - Quinn Mathews
Chicago Cubs - Jaxon Wiggins
Cincinnati Reds - Cam Collier
It’s widely expected that Chandler will graduate from prospect status early in the season, so a new player will take over the top nod in the system.
Konnor Griffin was named the player they are predicting to be the next top prospect in the system after the 2025 season. It’s not really a shocker, as he is currently the number two prospect behind Chandler and was a top-10 pick in the 2024 draft.
I hope everyone had a great Christmas/Holiday. After taking the day off, we will return to our regular schedule starting today.
I was feeling a bit under the weather Monday night, so I decided not to record the podcast on my own. Our next episode will be a mailbag episode covering the questions asked.
As far as I know, we will be back up on a regular release schedule going forward through the rest of the offseason and into Spring Training.

It will also give access to my player feature articles from on-site trips.
We have monthly and yearly plans available, with the latter costing an average of $4.16/month.
I get more excited about drafting good players than anybody, I can tell you 2 things. 1) The better chance of getting a superstar comes from the earlier picks. 2) The chance of hitting the jackpot from your picks is still very slim.
Look at the top 10 picks from the 2020 and the 2021 and see how few have performed well in the majors yet.
2020 Torkelson, Kjerstad, Meyer, Lacey, Martin, Hancock, Nick Gonzales, Hassell, Veen, Detmers.
2021 Henry Davis, Leiter, Jobe, Mayer, Cowser, Lawler, Mazzicotto, B Montgomery, Bachman, Rocker.
My new favorite baseball name: Jesus Made.
May he be a perennial All-Star!!
