I get more excited about drafting good players than anybody, I can tell you 2 things. 1) The better chance of getting a superstar comes from the earlier picks. 2) The chance of hitting the jackpot from your picks is still very slim.
Look at the top 10 picks from the 2020 and the 2021 and see how few have performed well in the majors yet.
Seeing another high end international name in the division really accentuates how bad the Pirates have been internationally. Jackson Chourio just had a 4 win season as a 20 year old and now they have another guy coming who sounds legit. Where are the Pirate international super stars? Tough look for the Pirates here especially considering they spend their full alotment every year and continue to see 0 results
Totally agree- I think Severino could be special. Why can’t the Pirates find these guys? I know the international signings are a crapshoot but the Pirate guys all seem to flame out with within the first couple years
Sorry a rant coming -‘this is a silly take. Look at the seven picks after him and two before him and then see if you think he is a bust. Better yet, look at the history of 4th picks. Seems your assumption is that pick 4’should yield a hall of famer. That isn’t even true in the NFL.
Brooks Lee and Zach Neto would be our SS of the now, and Cade Horton would add to our high end pitching prospects. I’m still a believer in Johnson, I just don’t like the fascination with 2nd base prospects with this regime
Brooks Lee is a shittier shortstop than Oneil Cruz and got his teeth kicked in by big league arms last year you people will go to any lengths to feel aggrieved.
Really glad the pirates passed on Greene, Berry, and Parada with that pick.
Still wish they would have picked Anthony with the compA or 2nd round but like Harrington and Barco. I wanted Anthony, Rushing, or Snelling with the compA but still really liked the Harrington pick.

2020 Torkelson, Kjerstad, Meyer, Lacey, Martin, Hancock, Nick Gonzales, Hassell, Veen, Detmers.
2021 Henry Davis, Leiter, Jobe, Mayer, Cowser, Lawler, Mazzicotto, B Montgomery, Bachman, Rocker.
Just saw a tweet that the red sox signed Bregman. Don't know if it's accurate but 7 year for $182 million. The last 4 or 5 years could look bad.
Doesn't look accurate
My new favorite baseball name: Jesus Made.
May he be a perennial All-Star!!

The Brewers locked him up to 10 years before they called him up to the majors.
Severino comes from their org. and he might be the best ifa hitting prospect the pirates have.

It took BC too long, but he finally fired Vizcaino as head of IFA's. I don't recall who he hired.....but it's a very corrupt racket in the Dominican.
Ross Kwan
Just hopefully after he's left the brewers🤡
Although I am hyped about the potential of Griffin you also have to be tremendously disappointed that it isn’t Termarr Johnson. The next Wade Boggs…
Overrated at the draft- not overly athletic, smaller, 2b. If you don’t turn out like Altuve, or a close rep of, you’re a bust for a pick that high.

Man what a ballsy call would Neto underslot up top and Anthony in compA have been. Crystal ball shit but wow.
Longenhagen was the high guy on Neto and had him all the way up at 5, one behind Termarr, so it wouldn't have been crazy-crazy.
People's heads would have literally exploded if they would have drafted Neto at 4 and passed on the guaranteed next Wade Boggs.
Have to give the Halo's credit on the Neto pick. His swing scared me coming out of college, wasn't sure he could catch up with mlb stuff.
The Boggs comp was always loony.
and even at that, the actual quote was the "plate discipline of Wade Boggs".
Which, well...
Which is about like, “the bat-to-ball skills of Ty Cobb,” or “the raw power of Babe Ruth.” Way to curse a guy.
A belated Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope you enjoyed the day with friends and family!!! Anthony, I hope you are feeling better!!!
Harrumph!
