Edman re-ups with Dodgers, BA talks Rookie of the Year for 2025
One of the big producers for the Dodgers during their playoff run, Tommy Edman, signed a five-year, $74 million contract to stay with Los Angeles on Friday.
The deal has an option for a sixth year as well.
Edman, 29, was the NLCS after picking up 11 hits that series, four of which went for extra bases and drove in another 11.
In true Dodger fashion, deferred money is included as well, as they did with Blake Snell earlier in the week and Shohei Ohtani last offseason.
Baseball America went over four players to watch who have made their debut and could be contenders for the Rookie of the Year Award in 2025.
Dylan Crews is one name on the list. He went second overall after Paul Skenes in the 2023 draft after they both won the College World Series at LSU.
He batted .218/.288/.353 in 132 plate appearances. He hit three home runs while stealing 12 bases.
They also mention Rhett Rowder, who will pitch for the Cincinnati Reds. He was a top-10 pick in the same draft as Crews and Skenes. He made six starts down the stretch, posting a 1.17 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 30.1 innings pitched.
He struggled with walks a little more than his track record generally would indicate, with a 10.8% rate.
Check out our feature from yesterday, looking at the 2024 season from Nick Gonzales. He made some progress regarding his swing-and-miss problems from his rookie year and put together a solid sophomore campaign.

The Red's have done an excellent job of drafting and developing a strong group of Starting Pitchers - Hunter Greene 2017, Nick Lodolo 2019, Andrew Abbott 2021, Rhett Lowder in 2023, and Chase Burns in 2024. They also tend to trade and spend on proven talent to try to get better at the plate.
