About to cook venison I had thawed out over a campfire in my cast iron pan. Then start to saute everything I can that I can that needs refrigerated. Don't want my beer to get warm so may as well open them and try to find the Cocks game on the radio whenever. No chance we get power for a few days. Just an am fyi.
Someday. This homestead is kind of a rough draft. I study permaculture and resiliency so this is a learning experience. Only going to be in mid 80s. Thankfully it's not July. Fortunately I have 200 gallons of rain water stored. Telling the kids it's like camping at our own house.
Skip Schumaker out in Mia. He decided to leave after the owner decided to trash last year’s playoff team. He’d be a good candidate to replace Shelton. He wants to win. Of course, that’s a disqualifier.
Skenes is ROY. He will win unanimously, except maybe for 1 or 2 San Diego homers. I think the whole the discussion is just click-bate media stuff. Skenes started the All-Star game. He and his girlfriend are media darlings. He is 10-2. His ERA is below 2. He is in the top 3 of every major pitching category for pitchers with over 120 IP. His WAR is at least 1 higher than any other rookie. This is not even a competition. There is no comparing what Skenes did this year with any rookie in recent memory.
As a stats guy it pains me that WAR is the only reason this is even a debate.
Jackson Merrill had an excellent rookie season and is a very well rounded player and earned every bit of WAR he has and that’s still not close to capturing what rookie of the year should mean.
You know that I think WAR works pretty well for most position players (with the possible exceptions of 1B and C), but I don't think it works very well for pitchers. I think comparing WAR for position players and pitchers is apples to oranges. Whatever the case, Skenes still wins the WAR battle, so the whole discussion is pretty silly actually.

Go Bucs.
Hope things work out and you get power back quickly. Extended time without electricity is a huge problem. That's the only reason I got solar.

Yeah the Reds are going to end up with him and spend years making Shelton look like an absolute idiot on the field.
Rumors out there that the Reds want him.
Always good to beat the Yankees. Hopefully Skenes has a magical day and puts the NL ROY to bed.

Fully support this.

Paul Skenes is the runaway choice here.

Sometimes you just have a great year at the wrong time. Merrill can commiserate with Bobby Witt Jr. about that very thing.
