Morning Rundown: Two Bryan Reynolds home runs fuel Pirates offense to victory
Pirates hit three total home runs in win.
Back-to-back home runs from Nick Gonzales and Bryan Reynolds tied the game for the Pirates in the sixth.
Reynolds would later hit a two-run home-run in the eigth inning that gave them the lead, and eventually the win.
The home run for Gonzales was his first since June 15, and his sixth of the season. Reynolds now has 24.
Jared Jones struck out seven in 4.1 innings pitched, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks. He finished the night with 85 pitches, and the two runs were allowed after he had been taken out of the game in place of Joey Wentz.
Carmen Mlodzinski pitched a scoreless seventh inning to pitck up his fifth win of the season, and Aroldis Chapman got save 13 while facing his former team.
Paul Skenes will make his final start of the 2024 season on Saturday, a day game with a scheduled start time of 1:05 pm ET.
The Pittsburgh Pirates announced that they have added right-handed pitcher Mike Burrows to the taxi squad on Friday.
Burrows, 24, missed the majority of the 2023 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He slowly worked his way back and pitched 51.1 innings between three levels this year.
He closed the season on a strong, striking out 10 batters across five innings with the Indianapolis Indians. Burrows had an overall ERA of 5.26, with 59 strikeouts in those 51.1 innings pitched.
Having last pitched on Sunday, Saturday would likely be the next time he would be able to play. He did throw 91 pitches his last time around, but any outing this weekend would likely be out of the bullpen.

About to cook venison I had thawed out over a campfire in my cast iron pan. Then start to saute everything I can that I can that needs refrigerated. Don't want my beer to get warm so may as well open them and try to find the Cocks game on the radio whenever. No chance we get power for a few days. Just an am fyi.
Go Bucs.
Skip Schumaker out in Mia. He decided to leave after the owner decided to trash last year’s playoff team. He’d be a good candidate to replace Shelton. He wants to win. Of course, that’s a disqualifier.
