From our discussion last week, Flaherty seems like a good Keller comp.

I think the Tigers re-signing Flaherty is interesting, partly given the incredible run they had after trading him at the deadline and largely because of the speculation out there that he isn't a good teammate. So, did they need him back? Evidently not after their August and September. Did they want him back? Obviously so. I hope this puts to rest the speculation about him as a teammate, but I'm guessing that it won't. In any case, I'm happy for the reunion.

Their playoff rotation last year was Skubal and a bunch of relievers.

I actually reasonably like how the reds have handled their offseason which makes me sad

Hiring Francona to be their Manager automatically made their offseason better than just about every team. Everything else they did was just icing on the cake.

Almost like a team that is trying to win - Cincy and Milwaukee have smaller metropolitan populations, but Cincy will spend $103.5 mil on projected player salaries in 2025, and Milwaukee is projected to spend $107 mil. The Pirates may have broken into $84 mil after the signing of Adam Frazier for $1.5 mil.

The Reds seem to alternate good and bad offseasons. Kinda weird, but it beats punting every offseason like BC.

Last full week before Early Reports for Pitchers and Catchers. It will probably be a very slow week for the Pirates unless some team calls BC in a panic and wants to give away some awesome hitting talent for Pitching. "Gotta know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em" and BC is still sitting at the table - it's what to do when you are holding pocket Aces! Only time will tell.

Excellent piece by Stumph that I read today on MLB. A recounting of the 2018 matchup between the Paul Skenes El Toro HS Team and the Jared Jones La Mirada HS Team. Skenes was a Freshman and Jones was a Sophomore.
