Pirates' Minor League leaderboards through July
A look at some of the top performers in the Pirates' system through the month of July.
We are now through July, the FCL season is over, and August is the last full month of minor league baseball.
With the trade deadline, the leaderboards shifted slightly as the Pirates moved two top-performing players into the system.
Here’s a look at some of the top performers through July.

Looking at these four categories, the Pirates had one player who would have been on each list, Charles McAdoo, but he was traded to the Blue Jays for Isiah Kiner-Falefa.
Yordany De Los Santos and Ji Hwan Bae are on all but one list here: home runs. The Pirates don’t have anyone who is pushing the 20/20 threshold, although Termarr Johnson is probably the closest (11/15).
Nine of the 11 players on the home run leaderboards have spent all or the majority of the season in the lower levels.
The gap between Bae and Yordany, compared to the rest of the field, is quite wide. Depending on how long he’s in the majors, Bae may not qualify next month. Yordany also struggled last time in Bradenton, so we will see how that impacts his average this time.

When it comes to pure strikeouts as a counting stat, the Pirates lost their current leader at the deadline, Patrick Reilly, who was the only pitcher to reach triple-digits in punchouts.
Thomas Harrington got a late start to the season but blew through Double-A, earning a promotion to Indianapolis. He’s shown fantastic control, even as the strikeouts continue to trend up, and he has the best xFIP in the system.
Alessandro Ercolani has improved his play since his role was reduced. He’s on two lists here and just missed out on the third.
Bubba Chandler is on all three leaderboards after a rough start to the season, especially when it comes to walks.

Remember Eric Lauer? I thought he'd end up with the Pirates. Now he's off to Korea.
BA has a new top 30 up. Their pattern in updating these lists has been just to make additions and subtractions, without reevaluating guys already on the list. For instance, Gorski still lingers at 23, even though it's clear scouts aren't at all convinced -- he's been passed over twice in R5 and even though the Pirates clearly have no intention of ever calling him up.
But this top 30 is loaded with new guys:
2. Griffin
6. Sanford
7. Yorke
9. Sterling
16. Hartle
18. Delgado
21. Ager
22. Cook
Also a big Lat Am presence, although not high up. Let's hope this makeover isn't just cosmetic.
