Severino 189 AB, 12 doub/3 trip/10 HR, 41 RBI, 12/15 SB, 26 BB/35 K, .918 OPS, .921 Fld % at SS 29 G
YDL Santos 192 AB, 8 doub/4 trip/5 HR, 34 RBI, 24/30 SB, 17 BB/39 K, .912 OPS. .958 Fld % at SS 30 G
C. Caro 131 AB, 8 doub/2 trip/2 HR, 17 RBI, 9/12 SB, 22 BB/24 K, .853 OPS, .971 Fld % at 2B 30 G
Love the fact that at this young age they are all putting the ball in play - Severino and Caro are near 1BB/1K, and YDLS is slightly above 1 BB/2 K. And, YDLS and Caro are very good fielders at SS and 2B.
Severino has a ways to go to catch up to them defensively, but they will all benefit at the plate and with the glove as they compete with one another as they move through the system.
BA has a new top 30 up. Their pattern in updating these lists has been just to make additions and subtractions, without reevaluating guys already on the list. For instance, Gorski still lingers at 23, even though it's clear scouts aren't at all convinced -- he's been passed over twice in R5 and even though the Pirates clearly have no intention of ever calling him up.
But this top 30 is loaded with new guys:
2. Griffin
6. Sanford
7. Yorke
9. Sterling
16. Hartle
18. Delgado
21. Ager
22. Cook
Also a big Lat Am presence, although not high up. Let's hope this makeover isn't just cosmetic.
They traded their two highest K% guys in Reilly and Peralta.
And I’m ok with the trade deadline, it wasn’t the worst but I think trading Reilly was a mistake. I think he’s Jared Jones. And he’s Jared Jones with a starters frame. He’s a horse of a human being.
I also didn’t like the McAdoo trade. Just for the fact that all IK-F is gonna do is block younger players that deserve a look.
And McAdoo and Reilly are two “auxiliary” prospects that you wrap into a trade with an Ashcraft or Harrington for a big piece. You don’t trade two of your best performing prospects for “auxiliary” MLB pieces.
And not that Josh Walker or Ryder Ryan or the 26 man/40th man on any roster is gonna be a huge difference maker but I think some team will scoop up Ryder Ryan and turn him into something decent(like Brent Honeywell).
Guys like that are low hanging fruit with their nasty stuff. But I was wrong about Colin Selby being “low hanging fruit” and some team helping him “figure it out”.
I just knew the Dodgers would help Honeywell though. The stuff is nasty and plays “in zone” when he can get it there. Honeywell might be the Dodgers closer right now..lol.
Ya, I watched him a lot in Indy and was impressed every time.
And he wasn’t spectacular in Indy either. The BB did him in most times and control problems is a tough thing for a high leverage RP. We’ve seen it with Chapman and his onset control woes.
I guess it’s been an ongoing theme with Honeycutt though. If he can get the control under control(lol), it’ll be a huge development win for the LAD.
But even with the control stuff, imo, he’s at least a low leverage MLB bullpen piece.
If you can trade your last years 13th round draft pick straight up for immediate major league offensive help, you make that trade every time imo. Especially for a player that’s signed for another year.
Hopefully the developmental successes of Reilly and McAdoo are a sign of things to come. Seems like there’s been a shift in direction in the draft these past two seasons, hopefully it bears more fruit.
Ya, man. I don’t disagree with you. 22 year old AA SP(he’s in AA for Baltimore) for a 25 year old, Rule 5 eligible, blocked prospect was my biggest issue.
And boy, Pirates fans sure took a turn on liking Kevin Newman now. Sorry, I meant IK-F!!😬😬
Three RH hitting MI's in FCL in 2024 - all 19
Severino 189 AB, 12 doub/3 trip/10 HR, 41 RBI, 12/15 SB, 26 BB/35 K, .918 OPS, .921 Fld % at SS 29 G
YDL Santos 192 AB, 8 doub/4 trip/5 HR, 34 RBI, 24/30 SB, 17 BB/39 K, .912 OPS. .958 Fld % at SS 30 G
C. Caro 131 AB, 8 doub/2 trip/2 HR, 17 RBI, 9/12 SB, 22 BB/24 K, .853 OPS, .971 Fld % at 2B 30 G

Ronaldys Jimenez made his Pirates debut today. Line was:
3 0 0 0 3 4
Roster moves: Michael Kennedy off IL, Magdiel Cotto back on.
BA had an interesting comp for Wilber Dotel: Luis Ortiz.

Delgado?
Nvm, kid from Yanks.
I’d forgotten Jase Bowen existed which is weird after all the off-season 40-man agita
Davis would be all over that list with a few more PAs

I was definitely in the Honeycutt fan club, dude has some good stuff and a great disposition.

Also, personally really love this feature, thanks AM!
YDLS and severino appearing on these boards is a great thing! Badly need some production from the international ranks
Remember Eric Lauer? I thought he'd end up with the Pirates. Now he's off to Korea.
I also thought that was going to be a very savvy pickup
Looks like Indy is also benefiting from buying at the trade deadline. Up to 9 wins in a row.
