If and when the Pirates choose the course this offseason to fill the holes in the rotation with reclamation projects on 1-year deals. Manoah, Severino, Flaherty, etc. Just remember the Pirates system is flush with impact SP in the upper minors. Names like Skenes, Solometo, Chandler, and Ashcraft all could very well be as good or better than Mitch Keller in the next couple years.

Yeah I mean why bother trying to make the team better now when they might be better in three years!

You would love to see some of these guys as major league starter depth but it looks like a lot of good potential bullpen arms if they don't workout for the rotation.

Jones is going to get his chance next season. Personally think he needs one more average or better offering to go with his plus fastball and slider to get the good MLB hitters out as a SP.

Beyond Jones, Skenes, Chandler, and Solometo could be called upon in 2024 as SP’s. Possibly Ashcraft, too.

I say the systems pitching looks way better than the hitting side.

I agree. I'm more concerned on the hitting side because Cherington recently stated that the hitters need to improve but I think he needs to look in a mirror and hopefully he will see Andy Haines looking back at him. Young guys in a new environment facing top pitchers and he's satisfied with a guy who has helped no one in his three or so years in the organization.
