Haven’t noticed any comment on it here, but Wil Crowe was released.

By many accounts, Crowe is a great guy. I think Shelton burned him out--at one point he was first or second in pitches thrown by late-inning relievers which, for a rookie who likely puts even more into each pitch to try to prove he belongs, seems to be a recipe for disaster.

I don’t read as many comments filled with lament at the thought of losing Bowen as I recall reading last year about Sabol and Gorski. Probably means he isn’t going to be drafted.

Maybe he’ll develop into the next Josh Harrison, but it’s certainly a better bet he’s going to be a quad A player than an All-Star Super U dude!

.A lot of difference in age between Jase Bowen of 2023, who played almost all of the MiLB Regular Season in A+ as a 22 year old (just turned 23 in Sep) and Sabol who played the whole 2022 season as a 24 year old, and played at AA/AAA. Gorski is about the same age as Sabol, but injuries cost him most of the 2022 MiLB Season.

I like the promise of Jase Bowen and the maturity he showed in the AFL, but I agree he is not MLB-ready at this point.

My guess would be that the fact that Sabol could also catch had more to do with him being picked than if he had just been an OF/1B like Bowen.

Yeah, if Bowen would have spent longer in AA and showed something, I would have been a bit more worried. If he goes, most likely he will be offered back.

Even if he gets picked, he'll most likely come back. He just doesn't seem ready for mlb pitching.

I do hold out some hope he can be a good 4th outfielder or potentially more if his approach and hit tool develop.
