Pittsburgh Pirates minor league leaderboards through June
Hitting is Charles McAdoo and a lot of lower level players
We have completed three full months of the minor league season, and all full-season affiliates are in the second half of their schedules.
Pitching remains where the Pirates’ system shines, but there have been some hitting performances, especially recently. Most of those hitters are in the lower levels, mainly the rookie leagues.

Isaias Dipre - DSL - 174
Charles McAdoo - A+/AA - 173
Jhonny Severino - FCL - 143

Omar Alfonzo - A - 123
Termarr Johnson - A+ - 117
Seth Beer - AA/AAA - 117
Edward Florentino - DSL - 117
This is a common theme among hitters who are heavily based in the rookie leagues. Of the 12 players listed here (due to ties), seven are playing in rookie ball right now, and another two are in Single-A with Bradenton.
Home Runs
Shawn Ross - A+ - 16
Matt Gorski - AAA - 14

Esmerlyn Valdez - A - 9
Malcom Nunez - AAA - 8
Shalin Polanco - A - 8
Hudson Head - A+ - 8
Jhonny Severino - FCL - 8
Seven of the 12 here have spent some time in Greensboro, which isn’t too surprising given how explosive their offense has been, especially recently. What Shawn Ross is doing right now is almost like what Matt Gorski did in 2022.
Stolen Bases
Mitch Jebb - A+ - 16
Yordany De Los Santos - FCL - 15
Charles McAdoo - A+/AA - 15
Tsung-Che Cheng - AA - 13

Termarr Johnson - A+ - 12
Sergio Campana - A - 11
Jesus Castillo - A - 10
Juan Machado - A - 10
Cristian Jauregui - DSL - 10
The Pirates have some guys with speed, but it doesn’t seem like an overall priority. Jesus Castillo hasn’t played since early May, but he is still on here. Mitch Jebb is slowly starting to get back to his game and leads the system in the category.

Luis Peralta has been fantastic this year, and while there have been plenty of solid pitching performances, you see how far he stands out among the rest. Thomas Harrington has allowed quite a few hits, but it’s been a lot of weak contact. Bubba Chandler has been the big climber over the last month and is well-represented the rest of the way.

Alessandro Ercolani looked like he was starting to figure things out before his injury or at least get back on track. The incredible month Chandler had pushed his strikeout rate over 30%, one of six to top that threshold.

I left out anyone who has pitched in the complex or the DSL since their tracking is a little different, which leads to incorrect SwStr% numbers. Peralta is again among the leaders in another pitching category.
It's impressive that Harrington is among the SwStr% and BB% (below) leaders. Emmanuel Chapman has slowly improved after a rough start in Altoona. He had six strikeouts in three innings in his last two games in June.

Pirates finally promoted Miguel Sosa to Bradenton. Also RHP Greiber Mendez.
Would the Pirates lose something if they promoted Matt Gorski to the Pirates and put him in CF? 14 HR at AAA, 876 OPS at a time when we need somebody to step up in CF. Why not? To me, the field in Indy is Death Valley, and he has hit 8 of those 14 HR's at home. Would it be terrible if he actually came up and surprised everybody?
