Spot on PirateRican......no real baseball fan should be sitting out this series! Five MVPs and 1 CY winner by my rough count. And game 1 is tied in the 7th......exactly the start to this series that any fan would want.
It was a great game and fun to watch so many stars. I can understand the sentiment of not watching if someone really dislikes both teams--if it was, say, the Maddon-era Cubs and the cheating Astros, I wouldn't watch. But I have no strong feelings for the Dodgers and Yankees, love their history, and can simply appreciate their current talent. And while both teams are able to keep talent due to their massive payrolls, they excel because they're exceptional at identifying and developing talent.
What has always amazed me about the Yankees is how well they know their own players. Last year, I looked at the history of their deadline deals and was amazed at how few good players they had given up for the massive haul of talent they’ve traded for over the years. Not many Oneil Cruz’s there. 😆
I hope whoever decides to watch, enjoys the series. I have no interest is seeing which team buys the series. Don't like either team, so I won't be watching any of it. I'll be doing the AFL recaps here though, so I'll still be watching baseball today and tomorrow. Termarr Johnson is in today's lineup, after not playing the last two days (he left early on Tuesday).
Missing out on watching some of the best talent of this generation because they play for teams who could afford them….to each their own, but I’m not missing out!
I would watch if they were on different teams, but I hate the Yankees and Dodgers. There's no good possible outcome for me. A team I hate is going to win the World Series with a payroll that only 3-4 teams can afford. I'm not subjecting myself to hate watching. My brother is a huge Mets fan. I would have watched Mets vs Yankees, even though the Mets are one of those other teams.
I am still watching baseball today in a few minutes, in a game that is significantly more important to me (also, it's not really that important to me other than Johnson and Siani, plus whoever might pitch). There are new Christmas movies on tonight and tomorrow night that I'll be watching, so I have better plans too.
Just read where 5 teams are scouting Roki heavily. If Ben got creative, he could use this to his advantage in a trade. If there's a player near or mlb ready they covet, Ben could use a substantial amount of the pirates international pool as part of a trade (ptbnl or cash considerations). It would be a low risk gamble to help aquire a potential impact player. The five teams are the DBacks, Red Sox, Dodgers and both New York teams.
The trade would have to center around other players with the pirates using pool space as leverage to get an impact player.
The other team would gain a monetary advantage over the other teams if he is posted. If he is not posted, the team would choose from a group of predetermined prospects (lower than the value of the pool space by a lot). Same if another team still out bids or settle for a lower amount with Roki (the Dodgers lol).
Just curious to me but no announcement of a new hitting coach by the Pirates, just wondering why?? as a fair number of teams have announced their replacements...
I would have awarded you points if you used pilfered or plundered, since we are talking about Pirates. I also would have awarded extra points if you said "Bierbauered"
Freddie with the walk-off salami. Amazing. I don't believe what I just saw, as they say.

With “how well they know their own players” and unlimited payroll, it’s amazing this is their 1st WS in 15 years.
How many World Series have the Pirates played in during your lifetime? How many have the Yankees played in since you turned 20?
Well, the game does involve more than making a few good deadline deals.
Right because you have it all figured out.
They probably didn’t hit on enough late rd draft picks or follow the Elias template.
In no way, shape, or form have I represented, nor do I think, that “I have it all figured out.”
Elias and late round draft picks are wholly irrelevant to my comments. Not sure what that has to do with anything.

Ok see ya.
Sure you will. In the early morning. The AFL game was busy and I wrote a lot about it. I won't be talking about the Christmas movie (spoiler alert)

They are probably going to steal the hitting coach from the Yankees or Dodgers and they need to wait until the postseason ends to announce it :)
I believe you mixed up steal and kidnap...

Purloin should be acceptable for pirates as well.
I don't think you have to wait for the clubhouse attendants.
