Possible 2024 Lineups and Rotations for Pirates' Affiliates

Where could the key guys be?

It’s going to be a long time before we see any Pirates’ minor league baseball again. Still, why not look forward to the assignments we may see when 2024 opens?

I thought I’d list the potential lineups and rotations for 2024, for the full-season affiliates. Not in full, though. I figured I’d focus on the more prominent players . . . the guys you specifically look for in the box scores. So there’ll be a lot of blank spots.

The big caveat, of course, is that the Pirates ultimately will see things differently, so a lot of these guesses are going to prove wrong. Also, I’m not going to try to guess which guys will make the major league roster. I’m going to assume that players who’ll probably be in competition for spots next March will all make it.

Guys like Roansy Contreras (who’s out of options anyway), Luis Ortiz, Quinn Priester, Liover Peguero, Nick Gonzales, etc. Obviously, they won’t all make it, but so much of that turns on spring training, and also on whatever washed-up veterans Ben Cherington adds in the offseason.

I’m also not including guys who are eligible for minor league free agency this fall. Hence no Mason Martin, for instance. I’m not sure yet whether Abrahan Gutierrez will be a free agent.
