DKPS has a string of good comments from Piratefest, from Bubba, Skenes, Jones, Bednar and Nicolas (so far). The pitchers at least seem to be developing an attitude. Much better reading than Moe, Larry and Curly.
Don’t want to be naive, but Skenes has amazing leadership skills. I really like the idea/possibility that he, Jones, and Bubba develop a mentality and a commitment similar to, say, the Seaver, Matlack, Koosman, Ryan Mets. Or the Maddux, Smoltz, Glavine, Avery Braves.
These guys don’t want to be losers. That’s obvious.
David Matoma from the FCL to Breakout Game? Ager from Draft to Breakout? Probably would have given Antwone Kelly and Jaden Woods the nod.
The showcase should be a showcase for Pirates pitching.
There should be a banner near the dugout that says, “Have pitching, need hitting. All interested parties call Ben Cherington.”
