Overview
Marohn is a finesse lefty whose strength is command. Baseball America ranked him 90th in the draft pool and MLB Pipeline 149th. He might have gone sooner in the draft but he missed a lot of time as a junior due to biceps soreness and then a forearm strain. He ended up making eight starts with a 3.18 ERA, 4.4 BB/9 and 12.3 K/9. In 14 sophomore starts those numbers were 3.38, 2.0 and 9.6. Marohn throws in the low-90s and gets good deception from a three-quarters, crossfire delivery. His best pitch is probably his change, and he also throws a slider and curve. All of his secondary pitches are considered more solid than plus. He profiles as a back-of-the-rotation starter. Marohn signed for exactly the slot amount.
