Sale will win for sure. Maybe unanimously. If Skenes had begun season in Pittsburgh and put up 32 or so starts at anything close to the 23 he did have, then Skenes may have been a unanimous choice.

Wasn’t sure if anyone caught EL’s chat yesterday or if this was covered. A Jared Jones question on whether a high effort short righty would hold up. EL said he’s bullish considering Jones’ athleticism.

There was another Bucs related question but I can’t remember.

I agree he has a legit case. A great season, especially just out of college, but the complete season by Chris Sale, 18-3 record, and a much higher fWAR should place him well above the other two.

Paul Skenes has been a very special Rookie SP. He deserves the spotlight, but let's not forget Jared Jones, another very special Rookie SP, and the rest of the Rotation as well. A very special season by the Pirates Starting Pitchers in 2024.

HELL YEAH BROTHER.

Honestly a hell of an argument.

He’d of had two no hitters this year if it weren’t for limiting him to 6 innings

I hope they take off the 100 pitch +/- pitches limit for him this year. He’s got what it takes to go more and finish what he starts on occasion. Especially when there’s a 0 in the hit column.

I'm changing your wording to fit my opinion. I think there is a slim chance that Skenes can walk away with the Cy Young but a legitimate case can be made that his chances should be higher. I think Sale (right ro wrong) will garner MVP type support regarding how important his season was considering Strider was out for the year and Fried was out some. He really was incredibly important for Braves making the playoffs. I also think he will get some support (and this should't count) as a HOF player who has never won the Cy Young sometimes just because some of his great years(which would have won Cy's in other years) were just slightly less great than somebody else in that same year(bad luck?). It is hard to believe he does not have a Cy at this point. He was top 5 for 7 straight years. Just my opinion but I don't see Skenes having a decent shot vs. Sale.
