Siani had another good day in the AFL. Got on base with 2 walks and a hit by pitch, then hit a granny in the 8th. 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored and 4 rbi's.
Another BC embarrassment. Just what we need - a soon to be 29 year old middle infielder who between Oakland and Tampa batted .107 in very few games. I don't doubt that he could be a better Manager than Shelton, but I don't think that was why we picked him up!
So, question for those in the know. If Kirilloff decides to unretire next year, is he a free agent or do the Twins still hold his rights? Seems like the latter should be true to prevent players from fake retiring to get to free agency. Players do occasionally come back, but it is usually someone who would have been a free agent anyway.
Feel bad for the young man, constant pain is a terrible way to live. Hopefully he gets healthy and finds a profession he can enjoy. At 27 years old he has a little time to get into a good mental and physical state to do so.
When I read your last sentence, I couldn't help but think of Austin Meadows. That ship has probably sailed, but he's only 29 so maybe he'll get in a place where he can give it another try?
Boy I have found the dodgers very likeable the past decade+, not inviting the usual hate but of course respond as you need too... Im a bit biased as a bostonian, im ready to say any accolade you can think of about Mookie, and this guy Freddie seems to have a swing that can creep into training sessions🤔🤷♂️
We saw Mookie as a younger player growing up in the Nashville area - the kid is just a class act, and he fits the mold in the Dodger org. Same same for Freddie Freeman who the Braves let go to Free Agency because they wanted to sign FA Matt Olson, 5 years younger than Freddie. Good for both players, and Olson has done well for the Braves with fWAR's of 3.1, 6.5, and 2.6 the past 3 years.
I love Mookie--not only is he from TN, he's a vegan (I'm not, but I'm vegan adjacent :)), and always has good things to say.
In any case, I'm with you--the Dodgers seem to have become my wealthy team to root for. Also, good story on ESPN about how most years they're near the top of the league in rookie WAR and in number of trades, both of which show that their FO doesn't get by on only signing the most expensive free agents, though obviously that helps.
He's from the Nashville area, but played competitively for a team called the Dodgers who were primarily from the Memphis area. An excellent Bowler also. Betts for Alex Verdugo, Connor Wong, and Jeter Downs, and the Dodgers also picked up the remaining half of David Price's contract of $48 mil (they already had Price, but the Red Sox still owed the Dodgers $48 mil). The Betts trade is recognized as the second worst trade ever!
As a vegan of 42 years, it's good to know about Mookie. Hope you join us someday. My fantasy dilemma is I'm a major league pitcher and I have to throw a ball made, in part, of dead animal skin. What would I do? Haven't figured that one out yet but I doubt there's any hurry.
It was nice hearing Friedman and Roberts give credit to their scouts and analysts last night. If they were not so wealthy, they'd probably still be Brewers/Guardians/Rays good. You can't say that about every wealthy team.
It'd be like the pirates to not protect him when he's finally figuring it out. I'm indifferent on if they protect him. With that, I'd rather see Siani on the 40 man than Palacios if one of them gets a spot.

Pirates claimed Tristan Gray off waivers from Oak. He's the prospect they traded, along with Daniel Hudson, for Corey Dickerson about 75 years ago.

Dickerson was the rare case where a player was rumored to be on the trading block and who made sense for the Pirates, and then it actually worked out.
In minor news, Texas has claimed Roansy Contreras off waivers.
But, I thought Pirates were dumb dumbs for letting him go to be fixed with LAA!!!
Stupid Angels, they fixed him then waived him!
He started well there but in the end, not so much. I’ll take Luis Ortiz.
Leiter, Kumar, and Ro going to be the 1-2-3 punch for another Rangers ring.
Kirriloff out

I think the Twins would still have his rights but they would need to add him to the 40 man.

You and me both.
And with it, dies the dream of an all Yinzer lineup.
sad day indeed

I think they traded for Olson.
and then immediately extended, so I can see where it kind of felt like a FA!

I don't think there's really any reason to dislike the Dodgers outside of they have endless cash to spend. They're just good at everything.

Sorry wrong thread, too lazy to fix, 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤣
Sammy Siani!!!!! To be protected from Rule 5!!!

Like the sentiment but don’t think Siani is in danger of being selected. Happy to see he’s having a good fall.
I don't think so either, but it wouldn't be a Pirates off-season without a typical Rule 5 debate on a fringe prospect.
