Re Mlodzinski possibly starting, he told the P-G after the game that he wants to be a starter. He sees this relief thing as his transition to the majors, but he wants to start.
I’ve slowly realized that the P-G, DKPS, and pirates.com all have similar reports based on open interviews that the players are giving to multiple reporters. There is very little truly exclusive content.
Gorski and Stewart had a great opener, both could figure into the firstbase and outfield depth. They're longshots, but they put themselves on the list with their performance. Davis and Endy both looked good today, with the bat and behind the plate.
I enjoyed Dave Johnson's commentary and couldn't agree more with his statement that when people talk about liking the "human element" of having umps calling balls and strikes, they should instead focus on the "human element" of a pitcher making his pitch in a big situation only to have it be called a ball.
I'm okay with the challenge system, though I think they should add one--two doesn't seem to be enough when in close games teams will likely hold on to one for the 9th.
My thoughts exactly; he did not look good in either AB that I saw. Now, Endy looking very good at the plate and Gorski has put his name up on the board to be our 4th OF - a real strong outing today!
Gorski could make sense, he's a pretty good firstbasemen as well, might warrant a look until Horwitz is back. Stewart with a good showing today as well.
Jaden Woods gave up a dinger for two runs, but very impressive getting it back together and striking out the next two batters to finish out the 8th. He's going to be strong for the Pirates.

Interesting.
Go Cocks.
There was a similar piece at DKPS. Speculated that he could fill the Ortiz role.

same problem is bigger than just baseball
The whole beat writer concept seems outdated.
All this offense! Need to start the season now, before Cherington Bat Rot can set in.

I like the challenge system better than the current system. I like the robo umps way better than the challenge system.
oh man if gorski goes on a tear like his 2022 version...
Gorski nuked that one!
Over buildings....farther than cameras could see! Lol.
Termarr 0-2 with 2 K
Games don’t matter but still not ideal
His swing didn't look good, almost like he wasn't ready.

Plays all 3 OF positions and 1B; footspeed and a very strong arm.
Our Gorski in now name Cook.

He starts finding the zone more consistently, he’s really gonna skyrocket
No location the first 3 or 4 pitches, then grooved one. After that he looked very much in control - a big step for a young kid just turning 23.
Very impressed with the Pirates at the plate being very selective, not overanxious.
Kinda checking in and out. Any velo on Rainey?
None
So, 0 mph? 🙂
Change up -10 mph, so he has the 10 mph separation.
Eephus!
astros hell bent on bringing in a slick fielding third baseman
kebryan is a houston native
arendao is from california
Coby Mayo 4 -41 in his cup of coffee last year.
Hank's not the only one who struggled.
Cowser was 7 for 61 with the Orioles the year before.
Termarr in left field? It's Bryce
New favorite baseball name.....Orioles have a Machin (pronounced machine)!
Gorski with a bomb.
Wind not a factor either.
Nice double for Endy!
Can’t tell on game day how well some of these doubles are hit
Endy's was a drive into the left center gap. Bradfield was playing center and couldn't get to it.
