Some of the top Pirates prospects played some from the Orioles system in the first-ever Spring Breakout series.
It was a seven-inning exhibition that the Pirates won behind the pitching staff that combined for a one-hitter.
I went over some things I noticed from watching the game.
Saw Zander Mueth throw for the first time in an exhibition game today. I thought his motion was supposed to be low 3/4, but it was more straight sidearm. FB seems to have a lot of late life.
Also saw Tony "The Mountain" Blanco. He seems very patient at the plate. Had a single and walk in the two ABs I saw. This was against probably about High A level pitching.
Solometo threw a couple innings, only not really. He was struggling with the strike zone and they rolled over both innings. I'm not sure he got more than a couple outs.
Jun-Seok Shim was signing autographs, obviously wasn't pitching today. No sign of anything wrong, but I guess there wouldn't be.
NMR brought up Nacho Alvarez and I now I’m seeing his name EVERYWHERE. He’s playing in the Spring Breakout for the Braves
