Appears to me that Suwinski is in another one of those hitting tears….his major task this year is to avoid the major slumps/K trouble he has fallen into so far in his career. If this happens, Jack will be DOMINANT!
Since the Taylor signing, he's 5 for 6 with a couple dingers. Coincidence? Maybe a little competition has motivated him? Or it could just be one of his hot streaks. Either way, all of a sudden he's at .300 and an OPS of 1.000+ -- I'll take it.
Jared Jones filthy thru 3. Fastball, slider, changeup, hair, all impressive.....make that 4 innings, 0 runs, 1 BB, 4 strikeouts. 2 hits, both pretty soft. Dude was impressive.
And 2nd and 3rd. The Braves announcers are impressed. Ben kept saying in his interview during the other game that there would be pitchers starting in Indy who wouldn’t be happy to be there; I don’t know if that was implying Jones would start there but that’s what I kept thinking.
Ben and Derek (not a new ice cream company) don't like fan favorites and these kind of remarks by them aren't anything new. He's probably referring to Jones and Stratton because in their minds a middling veteran is worth a longer look then two youngsters like Jones and Stratton who are having really good springs.
I won't complain if he's sent down, especially if it's for just a few weeks. As much as I'd like to see him make the Opening Day roster, I'd worry that we traded a few weeks (3 starts!) for a full year of his prime.
Plus, I'm feeling better about Priester and Anderson has pitched so well, why not give them the 4th and 5th spots to start the year?
I see we scraped the bottom of the barrel towards the end of that Atlanta game today…ugh! At least Ryan has been somewhat decent but Feigl?
Ryan looks like he might have a shot.
That must be a big bus the team took to North Port. Brad Case and Brady Feigl on the mound in the 9th inning. Case should move onto his life's work.
You mean changing his first name to Just-in Case or Not-in Case.

I think it’s more competition than coincidence. Davis is another great example along with Suwinski
I hope McKinney is player #26 and goes north with the team...
He's earning it. As is J. Jones. The big question is will the bucs make room on the roster for either of them.

I will be extremely pissed off if he is not in the rotation going north.
Jack dialed in this evening.
Who is Dustin Peterson? What is a Dustin Peterson? Why is a Dustin Peterson?
Jared with a nice 1st inning.

I'm sure service time will have something to do with it in his case, but he needs to be in the rotation soon.

7 or 8 starters for Jared Jones to face. Gonna be interesting.
Jones has a nice repertoire of stuff. Looking more polished than expected.
Not a great effort at the wall by Celestino. That was catchable, or at least he could have tried.
Ahh forgot, we'll have Michael A. out there.
Figured Moreta to 60 day would open door to another reliever. Has to be Falter DFA, right? No way he makes team at this point?
Bailey is faltering.
They're giving him a mulligan
That was a nice backhand stop by Davis.
Gas can Falter
His days have to be numbered, right?
He and/or Contreras may stick around until Lauer and/or German are ready, but I can’t see their time extending beyond that unless a switch flips.
In a normal organization, they would be but with the Pirates you just never know…I really hope it’s not a tough decision
Yep
Skubal is an ace. What an arm. He's better than anyone we've got.......not incl Skenes.
