Spring Training Gameday 24: Pirates head to Clearwater to face the Phillies
Martin Perez is expected to make the start for the Pirates
After Josh Fleming's solid outing against the Rays on Sunday, another recently acquired lefty looks to pick up where he left off on Monday.
Martin Perez is expected to make the start for the Pirates as they travel to Clearwater to face the Philadelphia Phillies.
In two games this Spring, Perez has allowed just one earned run across seven innings pitched. He threw four innings of shutout baseball last time out against the Minnesota Twins.
After three more on Sunday, the Pirates have hit 43 home runs this Spring, the most by any team. Matt Gorski, Nick Gonzales, and Shawn Ross went deep for the Pirates, who have seven more than the next-place team (Chicago Cubs).
The game on Monday is expected to start at 1:05 pm ET. That will be followed by the last off day of Spring for the Pirates, who will finish up their exhibition schedule the following Monday against Toronto.

A lot went on over the past couple of days for the Pirates, and after some time to reflect on it all, I went over what has been going on.
Grandal is catching in an intrasquad game, so I expect Davis’ ticket to Indy has been issued.
