Spring Training Gameday 5: Pirates look to build off of first win against Detroit Tigers
Quinn Priester makes his first start of Spring
The Pittsburgh Pirate scored 13 unanswered runs after falling behind 4-0, rallying back to beat the Atlanta Braves in their first win of the 2024 Spring schedule.
Ke’Bryan Hayes kicked things off with a Grand Slam, with Bryan Reynolds, Abrahan Gutierrez, and Jackson Glenn also hitting a home run.
Marco Gonzales had a bit of a rough start, not making it out of the second innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs.
Luis Ortiz pitched two innings as well as he began his case to catch on to the back of the Pirates rotation. Quinn Priester, who is also fighting for a rotation spot, gets his first look this Spring.
He will face Detroit left Tarik Skubal. Every starting pitcher that has faced the Pirates this Spring has been left-handed.
First pitch is expected 1:05 pm ET.
