Spring Training Gameday: Pirates play two games on St. Patrick's Day
Paul Skenes and Bailey Falter pitch for the Pirates
The Pirates only recorded four hits on Sunday against the Yankees, but made the last one count—with Darick Hall hitting a go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the ninth.
They eventually won the game 4-3 after Dominic Smith brought New York back within one with a home run of his own.
Nick Yorke, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, and Joshua Palacios registered the other three hits for the Pirates. Carson Fulmer started and tossed 2.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out three.
Tim Mayza, Joey Wents, Isaac Mattson, and JC Flowers pitched behind Fulmer to help pick up the win.
Now on St. Patrick’s Day, the Pirates will play a pair of games, one at home and another in Lakeland against the Tigers.
Paul Skenes will face Joe Ryan at LECOM, with Bailey Falter returning after having his last start skipped over. Reese Olson will pitch for the Tigers.
Both games have an expected start time of 1:05 pm ET.
