Shelton needs to be first to go. His management is so pansy ass it lean’s pathetic not aggressively pursuing wins, which wasn’t that the season mantra??
We need a real coaching staff and following that some aggressive GM work. Not over-reacting but honest evaluation. Even Keys fielding has gone sour. The bullpen has been poor going on 3 years, there is little bat to ball talent- I’m talking clutch players. Young talent is up around the league even the Yanks are displaying it. Getting these guys proper coaches would be a huge step in the right direction.
Who is the new hitting coach and what has he done to improve the teams hitting? Lets get serious:: they can't hit, they only have three legitimate hitters, the bullpen is in shambles, the relief pitching is bad, mental and physical errors abound, no real power hitting. This isn't just this year but the past quarter century. They need new: ownership, General manager, manager and direction. I have been watching the games against the Yankees and they can't seem to do anything right. Why bother going to see them play or watch them on TV? This situation cries for MLB to force the teams sale. If not, can anyone stand another quarter century of this nightmare?!!!!
Bad pitching, bad hitting and fielding errors will happen. But the management of the team is also killing them.
It was obvious during spring training that Bednar was still broken and should've been optioned rather than breaking camp with the team. That alone cost them 2 wins in Miami.
Also, I was a Bae believer in spring training, but I'm not in the business of evaluating baseball talent. Any actual baseball person who has spent time with him should be able to see he lacks baseball IQ. He, too, should have been optioned (or DFA'ed) before the start of the season.
Instead, they end up pulling two guys out of the clubhouse the first week of the season. While it sends a (limited) message on accountability, it was a disruption that could've been avoided.
Goldschmidt is age 37.5, has played in 8 games at 1B, and hit lead-off and clean-up in the 2 games vs Pirates, going 5 - 9 at the plate. You don't see Boone baby-sitting his playing time EVEN in blowout games no substitution. Let your best player(s) get into the rhythm of the season. Goldy has 32 plate appearances and plays in the field every game. Cutch has 18 plate appearances and is DH all but one game. Shelty ball. EDIT: Why not sit Pham, play Cutch a few games in RF?
I want change, but not sure Kendall would be ready for the job. I favor Don Kelly because of his ties to Pittsburgh, and he has that type of toughness edge I think we need.
Donnie Kelly is part of the problem, not the solution. There's no evidence he has added anything or influenced Shelton's very questionable roster and strategy decisions. Seems to be a passive observer, no player or coach or FO ever speaks up and gives any praise that Donnie Kelly has made any difference with the on field product.

Or….you can call up Chase Shugart cause that will fix all the pirates woes
What Reynolds needs is rest and heal. I am sure he is trying to compromise his swing so it doesn't hurt.
Well on a more positive note Horwitz will be making his debut relatively soon. Maybe he can spark this dreadful offense.
Hitter recovering from a wrist injury? Not likely to do much this year.
Well I guess we'll find out fairly soon.
I was under the impression it was minor. It’s not like hamate
Hopefully so.
I thought Holderman should have gone down, not Bednar. The script is playing out as many of us thought with Colin.
Both should be down
Well, IL for Holderman.
With this roster, as long as I see, "XX sent down," I don't care much who XX is.

looking forward to seeing Jason Kendall suit up as manager in the next few weeks

Why do we care at all that he has ties to Pittsburgh?
