NH did a lot worse in this area. Albeit it, with many more rounds and a lot more drafts under his belt. Walker Buehler, Nick Lodolo, Gunnar Hoglund, Elijah Dunham to name a few.
Corona has done well for himself, Tejeda did well in the Cape Cod League which is a step up to being drafted by the Pirates again in 2024, and we will look for Cuvet in a few years. In all 3 cases, the kids made the right decisions. Chances are they would have washed out by now. A lot more confidence should play up for all 3.
KC Hunt seems exactly like a Pirates draft pick (reliever with the ERA of a Boeing in college). He just did it after getting drafted instead of before.
Sometimes it takes a day or two for details of a contract to come out. I'm hoping that the $77MM guarantee comes with an option, say $70MM over the next five years with a $7MM buyout on an $21MM team option in '29.
It's probably just a straight 5-year deal, maybe with a signing bonus to keep future payroll commitments down. But I always hope there's a team option involved :)
I also always hope for an opt out but honestly I am more pleased there is no player opt out after 3 or 4 years. That seems to be the trend for a lot of longer contracts.
Guys, you gotta copy edit these a little better: "two-way player, Tejeda Jr. decided to go the college route with the Florida Gators. He didn’t pitch for the Gators but did make six starts on the mound"
Brian Fellow (That’s CRAZY!!) as Jermaine Allensworth. Forgot about Jermaine At least he had a couple of years after his rookie season before he had to pump gas. Thanks for the memory!
Would of been great to sign Corona, it would've been even better if we drafted and signed his high school and former college teammate as well. I hear that Nick Kurtz guy is pretty good.
Cuvet and Tejeda hurt a bit as well, Cuvet especially because they had so much more money to spend.
I wonder if he just wanted way more than they had left and they actually had money left that year. Sometimes the later draft picks are flyers hoping they drop their demands.

Looking forward to seeing the details on this.

Bro, Cuvet looks wiiiicked.
Early signs showing that was a big miss in not signing him
