Marcano always seemed to do the little things right which Anthony referenced. If we were so lucky to be a world series contender and all we wanted was the last man on the bench who could passably (or slightly worse) play a lot of positions, get a bunt down, steal a base etc. then he seems like he could be that player. For where the Pirates are, there just isn't a need to take up that roster spot with that type of player. There are still too many positions that we will still be rotating / trying out players although I do feel the upside of those players feels better each year. (ie. Triolo > Castro).
I'll give you a 'meh'. For one year they both would get some check marks on who may be better(easiest example - Jack wins power, Verdugo wins on being a tougher out). However, I have no interest in trading for one year of Verdugo that would be at the expense of any playing time for Jack.
The Padres seemed pretty stacked in the infield with Kim, Bogaerts and Machado, not to mention Tatis who once was an infielder. It will be interesting to see how the Padres plan on using him when he does become healthy.
GMs love getting attached to certain prospects, don't they.
Tucu followed the Cole Tucker path of riding age-based projection to elevated prospect value that just never materialized into actual development. Wish him luck.
wrist size and shoulder width, my new favorite indicators of physical projection. both Tucu and Cole have rail-thin wrists and narrow shoulders, neither have ever been able to juice an ounce of additional power into their game.
Tuca will spend a lot of time in the majors until he reaches Arb timeline. He even might make it to Arb 2... but I doubt he hits Arb 3

we all agree that Suwinski > Verdugo?

Sources saying Bae and Roansy to the Blue Jays for Varsho and Manoah
Other sources saying Bae and Brubaker to the Yankees for Torres, Rizzo and Arias.
Horses say Shelton, Haines and Solometo for Tellez and Uecker.
Screw Tellez, Uecker is more than enough. I'll miss Solometo though.
I'm holding out for Judge.

Bae will be the next data point in that series.
Thin wrists/narrow shoulders will be the baseball equivalent of “hand size” measurements for NFL QBs.
You don't want thin wrists and narrow shoulders. You want this...
"Hi butt, longish arms & legs, leanish torso," he said. Among his other remarks was the "young colt" description.
"I think I got most of that right," said Littlefield

Did you pull this from my dating profile 15 years ago? That's my exact build lol
Sounds like a killer profile!

I can see where NMR's mind is at this offseason!
oh boy
Hire this man
Cheng and Brannigan nipping at the heals of Nick and Peguero
Right now, all branigan is nipping at is the title of the next big strikeout prospect
If he’s playing Gold Glove level SS and stealing bags at a 85+% rate, will it make any difference?
Sure but his OBP is still pretty high
Yes, cant steal bags if hes not on base
"nipping at the heels" of the dog in front of you makes that dog run faster. I'm sure that's something Confucius said, lol.
