Hey you guys. BOD has got me fooling around with this Substack thing. I'm beginning with a serialized novel called "Solid." It's a story of a world sliding into climate heck that follows a young girl, Chapel Panic, who is unaware she holds the key to the future.

Pretty good graphics, if I do say so, myself. Chapter 3 lands this morning.

All for free to see how this thing works. Publishing every Tuesday. I appreciate you guys every day, so I thought I'd share. Enjoy!

Why not publish the whole, once you done, via Amazon for print-on-demand and Kindle (and Ingram Spark and Barnes & Noble)? I happen to know a good developmental editor, line editor, copy editor, proofreader, typesetter, and formatter who can handle the whole thing for you, has worked on 5 books this year that are out on Amazon and 2 out via commercial press, and who charges very reasonable rates by U.S. standards.

Thanks for the advice. Maybe I will.

I would be interested in contacting your friend if you can shoot me a contact on a back channel.

The experiment is that I don't know where the story finishes yet. I'm working on deadlines to push the story along, so I am NOT sure where it is going yet. But it is fun and a challenge to be creative like, right NOW.

I do have a novel (or two) that is based on my career in the State Police called "A Member of the Club" that I intend to find a publisher and an agent using the Writer's Guide. No bites yet. But it is a serious look at policing from the year 1991-2011 and it is very hard to write ... since it is fictionalized, but very true.

But I really like how Substack works and the print and graphic elements are good.

I suppose followers will come, since I also write on Thursdays and Saturdays in other forums, but the content is siloed so I don't bother ppl with stuff they are not into. I'm doing a series on "Bad Thinkers" over on my X+Y blog...

https://explusy.blogspot.com/2025/05/xy-mental-hygiene-intellectual.html

And I'm doing Saturdays on my blog over at my website....

https://www.cultureandcriticism.com

.... but that stuff gets into (hopefully in an entertaining way) the political spectrum, which isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Much love to yinz guyz. I appreciate your thoughts and will actually take plot points and try to use 'em if you care to share.

I am the editor/typesetter... lol. I've worked on 7 books this year and am working on 5 more that will be out later this year. One... we all hope... might make the NYT Bestsellers list. My website is editorialtraslasierras.com . You can get in touch with me via the contact form there. I also do translations to Spanish (mostly technical manuals for products and software apps... that was basically my business until the Covid quarantines... now I do mostly books).

I forgot to mention that I am doing a book now (the whole thing... editing/typesetting/formatting, indexing, translating to Spanish) that is sponsored by the Vatican and will hopefully be picked up by the Vatican Press. So... my goal... is to someday say that I was the Pope's editor... lol.

Question - Do the Altoona Curve not have the required equipment to record Exit Velocity/Distance on HR's? I always make a point of going back to Gameday/other for that info, but there was no data for exit velo, angle, and distances for HR's by either team on Sunday. That is information that teams use to evaluate bat speed, quality of contact, etc.

Termarr's homerun was 112mph 424ft according to the broadcast. They have something, just not public I guess.

Really appreciated the link. Being there was fun and getting to watch Termarr take a week to round the bases while pointing everywhere and hitting his helmet and jumping up and down all over again (and again) was a 424 foot blast. Thx!

Thank you, much appreciated - if that was official, he would have been second to Jack Suwinski (112.9) for Best Exit Velocity.

Francia's arm angle is overhand. I feel like that's getting rare these days, so many lower-slot guys are popping up.

Awesome to see Will Taylor clicking right now. Obviously, he’s a heck of an athlete. Hopefully, he makes quicker progress compared to others as he focuses solely on baseball.

Same. He’s a great athlete despite the leg injury. But he’s a long way away and he’s already 22. I hope his performance gets him to Greensboro soon.
