Thanks for the info on Termarr Johnson and Malcom Nunez. I am hopeful they can both push their way to MLB sometime in 2026. In his 2+ years since being drafted in 2022, TJ has pushed his way to AA and could make it to AAA sometime later this season. Nunez with the Pirates since traded from the Cardinals in 2022 along with Johan Oviedo fields well at both 3B and 1B. He came with power from the Cardinals and needs to find that tool again if he wants to be considered for the RH hitting 1B option to Spencer Horwitz.
I think it's time to send Canario to AAA. I know, I know, put him through waivers. but he certainly looks like he's not ready for MLB, both Offensively and Deffensively, and don't see any team offering a 40-man spot at this time! And give a chance to Gorski or Solak!
We are currently terrible and we do not need to be terrible with even more aging players. Gorski is 27 and unless he has solved the K/BB rate at AAA, there's no reason to think he would make more contact against better pitching in MLB. Solak is a hitter, but at 30, is he what we are looking to give AB's to to help us in the future?
The bar is pretty low, all Gorski has to do is strike out less than 44% of the time to provide more offensive value than the big fat nothing you’re receiving from playing Suwinski.. you can live with higher than league average strike out numbers if you’re receiving power production. Plenty of teams do it.
I know nobody at AAA or AA is going to fix our Offense. But both of these guys are hitting well and there's no risk in trying. In fact, what I'm saying is we can benefit from Canario being back at AAA and see if he can better his skills, and since he has not been good at the MLB level, he will possibly slip through waivers this time. But hey, I'm OK with giving Yorke a shot as well. We are talking about the 26th guy on a ver bad team...
I'd see Solak as a UT guy, not a starter, and I wouldn't play him ahead of Yorke. I would play him ahead of Pham or Frazier. But I don't have a problem with an older guy in a UT role as long as he's useful short-term (in contrast to nearly every veteran Birdbrain has signed in six years) and isn't blocking an actual prospect. Solak isn't arb-eligible yet, so he could be a useful piece for 2-3 years.

Is Solak on the 40 man? BC seems loathe to DFA anyone to make room for someone new...

No
Huh?
Solak isn't on the 40 man.
