Overview

At 18, Torres signed a little on the late side.  He was throwing around 90 mph with a potentially good curve.

2022-24

Torres started three games and relieved in eight in his debut.  He didn’t walk a lot, but he got hit fairly hard, with opponents batting 289/357/471 against him.  He finished the season on a high note, with seven shutout innings over two starts, including just two hits allowed. Back in the DSL in 2023, he missed about a month with an injury, but otherwise had little trouble, posting an ERA of 0.95. In 19 innings, he allowed nine hits and 11 walks, and fanned 24.

The Pirates moved Torres up to the FCL in 2024, where he pitched in long relief. In 34.1 IP, he allowed only 25 hits and fanned 38, but like most of the pitchers on the team, he had control problems. He walked 25, leading to a 4.72 ERA.
