Overview
Dixon went to the University of Texas as a freshman in 2020 and played only briefly in the pandemic season, at second base. In 2021, he played short for Weatherford and hit 335/495/633, with ten home runs and more walks than strikeouts. He had a commitment to Arkansas for 2022. Baseball America did not list him among the top 500 draft prospects or the top 100 prospects in Texas. As a pro, he’s served in a utility role, dividing his time among first, second and third.
2021-22
In 2021, Dixon got into a dozen games in the FCL and had little trouble with the pitching there, apart from a high K rate. He played second, apart from one game at short. In 2022, Dixon spent the season with Bradenton. He played mostly first and third, with some time at second. Dixon hit for some power and drew a lot of walks, but otherwise struggled at the plate, batting 208/337/346 with a very high K rate of 30%.
2023-24
Dixon spent the 2023 season at Greensboro, mostly playing third. He improved at the plate. He didn’t hit for average, but he drew walks and hit 11 home runs while playing about half the time. He batted 219/344/437. He did strike out a lot.
Apart from a few games with Indianapolis, Dixon spent the season in Altoona. He served as a corner infield backup, mainly at third. Apart from some power — he hit eight home runs for the Curve and one for Indy — Dixon didn’t hit well. He batted .188 for Altoona and struck out in 31% of his plate appearances.
