Overview

Hailing from Australia, Iredale went to New Mexico JC for two years, during which had hit 42 home runs and stole 40 bases. He wasn’t drafted and went to Arkansas, where he batted 286/450/544 with 14 home runs. Ireland doesn’t chase pitches, but still swings and misses a lot. He had a 16.4% walk rate and 24.3% K rate, and also got hit with 21 pitches. His exit velocities, something that seems to appeal to the Pirates, are very high. Despite the stolen bases in JC ball, Ireland’s speed is a little below average. His defense at third was considered problematic, but he improved a lot at Arkansas and has a good enough arm, so it’s possible he can stick there. Baseball America ranked Iredale 238th among draft prospects and MLB Pipeline 177th. The slot amount is $297.4K.
