Overview

Berg put up big hitting numbers in the Patriot League for West Point. As a senior, he hit 290/404/605. He also had a .950 OPS as a junior. He’s had good walk rates but also swings and misses a fair amount. A very good athlete, he played a lot at second, and some at first and third, apart from catching. He’s considered a good receiver and controls the running game well. Berg signed for $11,300 less than the slot amount.

2024

The Pirates sent Berg to Bradenton for the last month of the 2024 season. He had a rough time at the plate, going 6-for-49 with 20 strikeouts. His only extra base hit was an inside-the-park grand slam that occurred with the outfielder slipped and fell on a routine single. Berg caught 11 games, throwing out four of 11 base stealers, and played four games at first.
