The Pirates signed Chiquillo for a moderate bonus out of Colombia.  He threw in the upper-80s with a curve that had plus potential.

2020-23

After missing 2020, Chiquillo pitched almost entirely in relief in the DSL in 2021. He was largely undone by control problems, walking 11.5 per nine innings. He did strike out 10.7 per nine. The Pirates sent him back to the DSL in 2022 and he improved on both numbers, to 7.3 and 13.6, respectively. He started six games at the beginning of the season, then moved to relief.

The Pirates sent Chiquillo back to the DSL for a third season in 2023. He pitched in eight games, all in relief. He didn’t have a good season, with a 6.75 ERA and 1.88 WHIP.
