Bryan Reynolds may stink...time to ponder that.

Expand full comment

His extension is an example of why you should never cave to fan pressure. The "extend Reynolds" cry was garbage. He's a 28 year-old good-but-not-great player they had 3 years of control over. Stupid.

Wonder what Mason Martin thought when they sent him to Altoona after being in Indy the year before? Saw he was promoted again. Didn't appear to be tearing up AA. OBP was up at least. Still 24 years old.

terrific news - looking forward to seeing him getting a shot at it starting next week after they trade Choi

Sightlers average down to .400 :(

Bradenton has given up 8 runs on 3 hits lol

Expand full comment

Walked 9 batters. Had the bases loaded (hit, HBP, HBP) in the bottom of the ninth lol. Made that game a lot longer than it should have been

That's impressive. They teach them early.

Grounds crew might need to brush up on the fundamentals.

Its a good thing they havent had too much practice recently!

anyone else having trouble with MLB.TV lately? Games not resuming after commercial breaks?

I'd contact their customer support, but I assume their blackout policies apply to customer service too.

Kellers getting hammered so far, not ideal

Feeling like another one of those where it's not gonna matter how many runs they give up, the offense isn't doing much tonight anyways

Expand full comment

That is way too common of a feeling this month lol

Expand full comment

they got a run. Shoulda been two

Expand full comment

I'm not sure why Cutch wasn't sent there.

Expand full comment

Needed another timely hit for sure

Case is going down to the FCL to become a sidearm/submarine pitcher. That's rough that they assigned him there to work on it instead of putting him on the Development List and sending him there. That's a major cut in salary (pro-rated from salaries of 45.8K vs 19.8K) and it's literally one of the reasons that the Development List was created.

Expand full comment

That sucks.

Expand full comment

This is... interesting? Havent personally heard of that conversion before, usually its to add a changeup or something lol

Expand full comment

Ouch. I guess they did same with Eckelman when they sent him to Greensboro

Expand full comment

Yes, but this is a lot more costly with salaries going up and Case dropping two extra levels. It's possible that they pay him what he was getting in Triple-A anyway, but I know someone else told me they got a different pay after they were assigned to a lower level earlier this year

Liover can go back down now with the reminder that big league stuff is nasty and he can't swing at everything, right?

Not sure why he's still on the roster.

Expand full comment

Giving him a leash maybe cause Nicky G is also showing his breaker/offspeed flaws with teams catching on?

Expand full comment

Ooo forgot he could/should be splitting PT at 2B as well.

I'll allow it.

Any guesses as to who is replacing Santana on the roster? Hayes being activated?

Jason Mackey reported earlier that it will be Palacios

Just curious, if Hill gets traded, or even if he does not, where are the starting pitching innings going to come from to fill out the rest of the season? Aren't both Priester and Oviedo already on pace to blow way past their inning totals from the previous year? Are there going to be multiple bullpen games per week in September?

Expand full comment

Priester is still 15 innings short of last year when including the Arizona Fall League. That's three starts, plus he can then go at least 30 over before you begin to worry, so you might just have someone step in during September for spot starts. At that point you could just throw in anyone to polish off the schedule

Expand full comment

Reward solo, jones, etc. with a taste of the big leagues to end the year?

Expand full comment

Solometo seems unlikely, as you wouldn't want to add him two years before he's rule 5 eligible, just in case of any setbacks along the way next year. Same thing applies to Jones if he still has a 5.00+ ERA in September. He doesn't need to be added this off-season, so no need to push him unless you think he's got Opening Day material for 2024. Right now that would be a no

This is why I’d rather see Hill remain a Pirate. We’re down to four now. We have nothing at Indy worth bringing up (or ready as with JJ).

Is Eric Bedard available?

Expand full comment

Pick me! They will never hit my fastba…. Er eephus pitch 😁

Expand full comment

More bullpen games maybe? Bring back Contreras?

Expand full comment

If they acquired hometown Alex Krilloff, it would be easier to sell off a Bednar trade

Who do you think gets the next hug? Im going with hill

Expand full comment

I'm actually gonna say Hedges. He's probably the easiest return bar to clear

Expand full comment

Hmmm interesting, delay and endy to finish the year then? Would love a weekly davis appearance. I could see a team like the dodgers or Astros go for their backup catcher

Expand full comment

Bins might finally find his way back to Indy. He's appeared in TWO games this week lol

Expand full comment

Poor guy, he looked like he was turning a corner in spring training with the bat. Hope he can finish off the season healthy.

Expand full comment

Looked like he could maybe be a poor man's Jack at catcher. Low BA with lots of K's, but big bombs
