Wow, Shelton did a masterful job during this game. I'm just not sure at what point he went from standing on the dugout steps waiting to for the camera. Shelton only recognizes rookies when he has no choice. He's just another guy who was a long time baseball coach recommended by a friend.

Idk what they did to Borucki, but I'm happy with it so far

And by idk what they did, they clearly told him throw as many sliders as possible, and sprinkle in other stuff

I don’t know if I’ve already asked this question, sorry if I have, but are the coaches allow to operate the pitch com? They have always been allowed to call pitches from the dugout, wondering if the pitching coach or the game planner can do the same?

Seen all I've needed. Extend Rivas

It would be crazy if we got lucky with Rivas. Even if he's a more on base type then power with above average defense. Give me a guy that gets on base 40% of the time and gets a lot of doubles with double-digit homers and it's an upgrade over what's been the norm lol.

Even if he just beats up the Brewers, it's ok lol

priester is very unimpressive

how did this guy ever rank so high in prospect rankings?

Expand full comment

I think a lot of it was just due to the fact he was seen as a big leaguer, just a question of how good he was actually going to be. The secondaries are strong, the fastball is just poo. Especially since he's not pumping 95-96 like earlier in his career.

At this point in the season, the Pirates hitters have had roughly 4000 PAs

The same goes for the two best teams in the NL (Dodgers and Braves)

The two best players for the Braves (Acuña and Olson) and the Dodgers (Betts and Freeman) have combined for nearly 1000 PAs, respectively

That’s about 24% of all PAs

The two most talented players on the Pirates (Endy and Cruz) have combined for less than 90 PAs

That’s less than 2.5% of all PAs
