Couldn't watch but followed the game. Chapman with the killer hold but kinda feel bad for Fleming on his luck that inning. Good win with a lot of players contributing!

Chapman's two third-strike pitches are on the team site. Two of the nastiest pitches I've ever seen. I'm mystified that the Pirates were able to sign him. Did the rest of MLB think he was washed up? Bad call.

Last year, the winning streak was pretty cool and fun but I knew it wasn't going to last... this year I'm feeling it's a little less flukey despite the BABIP luck.

Raise the Jolly Roger!

I think it's a lot less flukey. This year we have much better depth with the pickups of guys like Chapman, Tellez and Taylor.

9 down. 72 to go.

Pirates Win 7-4, are in first place and have the best record in baseball.

I gotta tell ya, this is getting a little scary. I remember last season's hot start and was thrilled with the veteran additions we brought in until ... ya know.... But it's alright, Ma! Everybody must get ... CARROTS ON THE HOUSE!!!!!

@> One spice of life for Connor Joe, who accepts for all the cavemen around the Bucco Bat Rack... 5 Bucs had a multi-hit game... That, friends, is a balanced attack. Joe went 2 for 3 with a run, a walk and two rbi.

@>@> Two tasty orange vegetables for Pitch Keller. Now that's the guy I remember fondly from last year. 6 innings, 2 runs on five hits and three walks, and NINE strikeouts. Attaboy Mitch.

@>@>@> THREE (3) love roots for Aroldis Chapman who enters with the bases juiced and one out in the 8th and throws 7 pitches for seven strikes and ends the inning with AUTHORITY. Sick.

I was at a game with a Scottish friend once and he didn't know a thing about baseball. Up comes Andrew McCutchen, who works the count full. On the next pitch the pitcher throws a wild pitch to the backstop. "Run, man! Run!" screams my friend. I said, "McCreary, he doesn't have to run. He's got four balls." And McCreary shouts out, "Walk with PRIDE, man! Walk with PRIDE!"

Lovin these! Do you keep track of the leading carrot getters by chance? I know that would be a big task lol

Connor Joe is currently the leader with a bushel (7) of carrots.

Ortiz is second with 4. Bunch of guys with 3. I'll keep tally all year long.

Thing that is currently interesting from my perspective is the sheer amount of contributors. There is no single stud on this team, at least as far as orange produce goes, but a raft of guys who can get it done.

Interesting team too, because maybe none of us were too enthused with the guys we picked up by and large.

In my opinion they are doing two things... looking for the big hit (never mind the average) and the whiff (never mind the ERA) because those two things impact a ball game the most. The big fly is indefensible. The whiff means the other team is not even putting the ball in play... nothing can be done about those two things. Do BOTH well... and well, there you are.

The Reds really did try to hand that game to the Brewers, but the Brewers just wouldn't take yes for an answer.

Player of the game…Chapman!

Just an incredible display of pitching prowess.

Feels like he is motivated to be his best in the big moments. 101 painting the corner for called strike out was a thing of beauty

Was watching with my dad. Told dad that it was a poor rookie up. Told dad that the rook was gonna see 101 for strike 3. I knew Chapman was gonna torture the kid just because. Chapman did not disappoint. 😁

That's called a winning streak

We need to keep one going in Toronto too.

O’Connor just tied it with ~6:30 left…..

When I watched Chapman pitch last year, including in the playoffs, it was excruciating. He just couldn’t throw strikes consistently, but no one could hit him when he got the ball over the plate. So every inning seemed to end up with the bases loaded and him striking the batter out on a 3-2 count to wriggle out of it. So I have to confess to not being thrilled when the Pirates spent 10 million of their precious dollars on him.

But he is still unhittable if he throws strikes, and he’s been incredible so far for the Bucs.

Jack is built like a linebacker, he's probably the only Pirate who could hit the wall like that and stay in the game.

Dude stresses me.

He'll be going down when Mlod or Holderman are healed up.

Because you have a 4-run lead, no one on base. Have to use him sometime. Good time to use him... can always bring in Bednar if it gets sticky.

A. Chapman was a beast. Is a beast. And will be a beast. I hope the Pirates resign him.

Anyone want to complain about spending money on Chapman instead of a SP now?
