I wish that we had anothe starting option or two down in AAA. Priester is NOT a major league pitcher, at least at this point in time. His ERA reminds me of another former first round pick, John Van Been-Shot-n.
The Pirates have zero pitching that demonstrates control and command and without that they are at best AAAA pitchers. The Pirates are still a long way from being a competing team...
Continue to playing players out of position is a recipe for trouble for both the team and those players...
Apparently it has something to do with the other team getting on base or hitting the ball over the fence. I think Shelton saw your post and asked the pitcher not to do those two things, he thinks in a smaller box outside a bigger box, that are held together with duct tape.
Priester has had enough time to demonstrate he's not ready for MLB. I'm not sure he ever will be a major league pitcher, but he's not right now. I've heard some call him a soft-tosser- while he doesn't throw hard, FB velo isn't the problem. He sits 92-94, which is fine, but his fastball "shape" has been noted as a problem with him for a few years now. He either needs to make a tweak on the FB, or figure out a way to pitch with it being his 3rd or 4th offering.
I have to think that the Pirates called him up knowing there would be big bumps along the way. If they didn't, they weren't watch him in Indy. He was very inconsistent, had trouble missing bats. That never translates well to the majors.
That's what makes me think that they are willing to roll with him in the rotation. Could be completely wrong and he goes down tomorrow for bullpen help, but it just feels like that if you call a top prospect up before he's ready, there's a longer rope unless he implodes. He's not imploding, just an unfinished product taking lumps 1-2 runs at a time.
Would you agree the fastball shape has been a known issue with him for a couple years now? And if that's the case, do we know they're trying to address this?
He was working on locating his sinker better late last year, and then that's when you started hearing more of that pitch to contact stuff from him. He was really having trouble locating the sinker away from right-handed hitters. So it feels like they wanted him to concentrate on the sinker more and more early in the count.
Priester can’t get through an inning without giving up a run. Tough inning behind the plate for Endy. Wonder if we would see that + if we ever see Henry back there
It will likely matter on what happens the rest of the year. I don't think it was a secret that he struggled at Indy this year, so they probably expected growing pains in the majors. If they are willing to roll with him for eight more starts, then I could see that being enough time to possibly figure stuff out. I wouldn't be surprised if one space of their roster expansion is going to a six-man rotation, so really he has just two starts before that happens.
It's obviously not guaranteed with the way he is pitching, but I don't see any reason not to roll with him for eight more starts

Enjoying watching Glasnow tonite. Six K's first time thru the order. Hitting 99 FB, but a complete pitcher now. Five years since the Archer deal.
He’s healthy again? For how long?
He missed one start with back spasms. He's 100% now, at least the Rays hope so.....their SP has been devastated w injuries.
Yes it has. I follow the Rays. I am amazed they continue to do as well as they have.
It's uncanny. How do you manage to get scored on in every. single. inning?

Before Shelton learns to think outside the box, he first needs to learn to think outside the butt.
And leave his comfort zone?
Listening to Vogelbach after he fouled that off of his shin is what my living room sounds like watching Quinn pitch.
Feels like they are playing quite sloppy tonight, dont know if they are tired from late night last night then travel but not sharp as a team
tank´s mom is a milf
Is this from your sources or? Lmao
theyve been showing her on camera during the game

I dont know if hank's current pull everything approach is ever going to work, dont know if that's always been his way or just the last few weeks
His swing is completely geared to it, this is who he is and who he's been.
Hmm i wonder how much success thatll bring
Pretty much an even matchup tonite. Carrasco has nothing, just like Priester. Two #6's going at it.
**** yes key!
Please let this be Hayes from now on!
Hank's 1b set his new high EV
I would love to see another brey bat flip tonight
Speaking of looking overmatched- Hello Quinn Priester
Is there any chance Priester does NOT start at AAA next year? Have to think Ortiz will be back to replace Priester soon

He has ways to go to be a big league starter, so yeah AAA next year.
Alika looking more and more overmatched every strikeout he racks up lately
