What do we make of Davey Martinez pitching the same 4 relievers in both games of the double header? Would we crucify Shelton for that? Or is it a manager trying to win games in Sept? Or has Rizzo given him some AAAA relievers and he's just giving him the finger. I mean that's some bizarre bullpen mgmt.

Hmm one of the surprises this weekend was Alika hitting 2 doubles. But one was off Corbin.

My how the mighty have fallen. If the season ended right now, the Atlanta Braves would be out of the playoffs. There is parity in baseball, but you would never know it, watching the Pirates.

The Braves lost their Cy Young candidate in April, their MVP in May and have had month or two long injuries to their all star 2b, 3b and catcher and a month long injury to their young CF. Despite all this they are tied for the last wild card spot.

I would sign up for such a fallen year in a heartbeat.

If the Pirates lost so many pieces they would be challenging the White Sox.

The Pirates don't have that many pieces to lose.

Well, the Pirates lost Marco Gonzales.

Well parity for the high spending Braves and high spending Mets, anyway.

How much $$$ and WAR do Braves have on IL?

The fact they’re still in playoff hunt is a testament to the management of their organization.

Sorry if this was noted already, but Endy’s headed to Altoona next week to DH, play first AND catch. Apparently his recovery has been exceptional.

Endy playing 1B against RHP and catching against LHP is a plan that I could get behind!

All 3 balls in play from Cook were over 100mph, not a bad first game.

Since 2020 Patrick Corbin has the highest ERA in all of baseball.

The antidote for any offense.

I’ll miss him once his contract is up this year.

I hope he signs with the Cardinals, Cubs or Reds. For some reason I really don't want the Brewers to sign him, those bass terds might fix him.

I think he might be done, as in retirement. It hasn't been fun for him, why stay in the game with what he currently throws. He's been bad since the WS year 2019. Rizzo made two of the worst extensions with Strasburg and Corbin.

Not that Corbin is a great pitcher or anything, but it is nice to see all the XBHs.

On rates and barrels (podcast), eno dvr and trevor may were talking about bednar and sounds like they found some significant pitch tipping throughout the year. They are optimistic he will bounce back after the year

Trevor May just dropped a video on his YouTube channel that digs into Bednar’s tipping:

Too bad the Pirates don't have any coaches or they might be able to spot those things. Or maybe those 18 flunkies with clubhouse lockers could watch some video. Take a little time out from writing memos to Ben telling him he's a genius.

If they do nothing else, please get most if not all of those 18 out of the players' space. It seems so unnatural to have an 18:26 ratio of non-players to players in the clubhouse.

WTM's avatar

Yeah, BC thinks that's a lot of space to waste on players.
