Heard that Wei-Chieh Huang was released and Eddy Yean was promoted to Indianapolis for the final week of the season. Yean has allowed one unearned run over the last month, plus he's an upcoming free agent...but this could mean he's returning. Huang was apparently injured while rehabbing. He spent two seasons with the Pirates and didn't pitch once
Management has figured out that if you stay mathematically alive until the last week of the season, fans won't abandon you. It's called "The Tomlin Effect".
Jase Bowen finished the season at Altoona strong, going 9-for-22 with three homers in his last six games. I know his overall numbers didn't earn it this year, but maybe he should spend the next week in Indianapolis and see if he can build off of the hot streak, or just continue playing while he's doing well
Hard to get on base from the bench. He's had 18 ABs. He is starting to grow on me. Seems like he could provide some value on the bench next season even if he doesn't hit better than an 80 wRC+ or so.
Patrick Reilly has had a nice start in O's org. Moved up to AA, 27 IP, 31 K's, whip good, era 3.62, showed virtually no difference from High A. Need Cook to be better than 80 wRC+ to win this trade.
He didn't misplay the ball off the wall. He did what he was suppose to, the ball hits the chain link it falls straight down and he's right there. The ball hit a solid area and was Cruz's ball. Cruz didn't play it well but it was a tough one and a learning experience.
He pulled up once he hit the warning track, he wasn't right on the wall. If the wall was solid from bottom to top I'd agree with you but the Clemente wall is mostly soft chain link with a couple hard areas lined in the middle and top.
He was on the warning track when it hit the top of the wall. He’s not in a position to make a play there. If he’s 10’ off the track, it’ll allow him recovery time from a bad carom. He has no chance standing on the track
I thought the ball hit the National League sign above the scoreboard (around 10 to 13 feet high). I didn't realize it hit the hard area at the top of the fence at 18 feet.
Yeah I was going to give Cook a pass based on what Block was saying he's never played RF (at PNC). But he's got a lot of experience there in the minors. 900+ innings.
Reynolds has somewhat quietly begun really hitting again. Another double and RBI early on here. If he gets at least one more hit today that will be 5 straight games of 2 hits.
Rogies for dinner Ski. Mrs Ts but garlic, onions and butter from our farm. Lass turned 5 today.
May put 5 candles in one.

Got the W and stayed alive one more day.
Alive for what?

Booyah!! #71 in the books! On to St. Louis and make the Crds fans cry…. 😁 Raise it!!!

Hate to see key future pieces like Palacios and McKinney lose at-bats 😉
Brock remains a quiet statue on passed ball, no help for Nicky G.
Cruz on the bench for Taylor in the 7th??? Is there something I’m missing?
Apparently Cook does run pretty well.
We'd have known that earlier if he could get on base ;-)

80 wRC+ appears to be absolute best outcome.
Seriously? Where is this coming from? I love people writing him off, based on what?
I don't disagree. It was not a trade that I would have made, but Cook is here now, so I want to see him do well.
Can't recall last time seeing a Pirate score from 1st on a single that didn't involve an error.
Rabelo made the correct signal to Cruz, no throw, come in standing, but Cruz like always doesn't seek help, goes his own way.....
100 pitches (almost) to get through 4. That is not the most efficient outing.
I'm coming around to the opinion that Jones is more a 3/4 than a 2.
Where the command came from during that first month, hopefully somebody knows.
A 40 year old testing Cruz. Oh well.
Why is Brady Singer not wearing #21. Only position players required to??
I think Adam Frazier is the only Royal wearing 21.
Ok thought it was a Jackie Robinson type day......guess not.
I hope it’s just nerves, but Cook looks completely overmatched at the plate.
What a freaking throw!
Made up for the misplay off the wall

The ball hit 18 feet up the wall, he’s never going to make a play on that. Settle back and play the carom

He just got a little overzealous, it happens. He’s trying to make every play to impress the brass
Dare we call it Clemente-esque?
No
Tough crowd--maybe we shouldn't let the players wear 21 either.
Can he be Ted Beard? He played right field for the Pirates, wore #21, and his minor league nickname was "The Arm".
Yeah, not much distance covered on that throw.
