One thing to remember is that they signed Roberto Perez and Austin Hedges for $10M to replace Stallings and got a handful of games for Perez and no trade value, then garbage results from Hedges, so those guys cancel out the negative production from Stallings elsewhere. They still got it, just not from him and not as cheap. Zach Thompson had -0.2 WAR I believe, Connor Scott has stalled, so it's just what they might possibly get from Nicolas, who has had brief success as a reliever (until tonight obviously). Right now there's no winner in the trade, but there's a chance for an edge to the Pirates down the road
I once had a coach try to tell me this with a straight face in my younger years, still impressed he pulled it off even though I knew then it was a load of shit lol
I was all in on Skenes or Langford. That 50% Groundball rate just screamed Hayes to me.
Nicolas showing what the Pirates' crack development team can do.
Other team's lefties can crush lefty pitching!
I know we won the Stallings trade......but it just takes sooo long to get in the black.

Well not an ideal debut for nicolas
I miss the relievers warming up in foul territory at Wrigley, just like in the minors, with a guy stationed to protect them from foul balls!
Big inning......Priester trying to get that era under 9.00.
Please let this be Hayes from now on!
I think that Rodriguez is plenty good behind the plate, but I just don’t see him being able to catch a 100+ games a year.
His athleticism combined with the enthusiasm reminds me a bit of Benito Santiago
Agree, I just don’t think he has the body to take the punishment. It will really help if he could split with Henry.
Hasn't even gown into his man muscle yet.
So walk the first guy you face and then your shitty fastball down the middle to the next guy.
Falter for one inning seems like a waste...
The home run allowed would not have been a HR in the other 29 parks.....why only one inning? He's auditioning for '24
rotation a whole lot more than Priester.
Bailey Falters.
Priester........I guess sucks is the only I could come up with.
Since selby wasnt around to give up a few to start, he decided to do it on his own!
playball
lets go bucs!
NickyG with a homerun, begging for a callup.
He's now a single short of a cycle.
He got it, CSN still a triple short but got another single.
Asterisk....was against a position player but still counts.
CSN needs a triple for a cycle, be neat to have back to back players both with cycles.
Meh, bring him up and hope he has a hot stick for a week or two so he has some value to flip in the offseason
Can’t be worse than Davis....
The Nats (team they're playing) are one of the teams that could use an upper level 2nd basemen. They have Baker but he has very little power.
Always a sign of great roster construction when your 1B typically bats eighth.
Or as they* call it, second cleanup.
*Nobody does, in fact, call it this

Thats the true power position!
