I sure wish Chapman would be this version of himself more consistently, but whatever, they need to bring him back. My guess is GMBS won't try. As far as I can remember, he's never tried to bring a FA back (of course nearly all of them have sucked) except Cutch, who was never his choice to begin with.

Would love to have Chapman return. He’s 37 and throwing 100 mph. An amazing athlete. Worth the gamble in my opinion.

This was another one year deal, does BC ever try to get a 2nd year team option, or mutual option? Just too risk adverse.

Guardians likely to lose. Magic number will be one for Yankees. Bring on Skenes!

That was vintage Chapman.

Next year's bullpen should be interesting. Santana has pitched himself into late inning consideration. Hunter Stratton, Kyle Nicolas, and Carmen Mlodzinski should be as well. Though, Stratton will likely be rehabbing to start the year. Moreta will be back some time mid-year. But (presuming GMBC doesn't sell low), Bednar will still be around. Holderman pitched well enough to maintain what his likely value was already, outside of a hot market. Gonna need a lefty, since no Peralta. Wonder if Chapman comes back.

Why would you run it back with all of the same guys? Most of them were gas cans for the better part of the year.

You're basically taking a whole bunch of guys who have some ability, but who've been so inconsistent with it that, game after game, there's always one guy in the bullpen who has a meltdown. That's what's been happening this year. You're counting on several of those guys taking a step forward, so you have enough in the pen to get through 3-4 innings without that meltdown.

Which raises two problems. One is the gamble on Bednar, especially if Shelton comes back, since he's shown zero ability to adapt himself to problems like Bednar's struggles this year. The other is that it's Cherington making the decisions on which guys have that shot at taking a step forward. NH was pretty good at that. Cherington traded 6+ years of Peralta for two months of Beeks.

Basically, they need to bring Chapman back and bring in at least one other reliever who's a bit beyond the needs-to-take-a-step-forward stage.

Would love to have Chappie back as I do think Bucs can make a run at NLC with their pitching and what hopefully won't be another collapse. But if that $10.5M helps get an OF bat or a 3 WAR SS, I think the position player is better use of Nuttings nickels.

You're banking on a GM who's trades have cost the team 9 bWAR per season during his 5 year tenure to turn this around. It's not going to happen.

Santana - small sample fluke or have they fixed him? Be nice to have at least one reliever they could count on next year.

Going to be a classic with Aroldis returning to the Bronx!

BRey saw Bart dropped below .800 OPS, leaving nobody over .800, and decided to do something about it.

Dude was solid all year, and clearly our best player. I'm ok with a rough September, wish we had 10 more of him

He’s my favorite player but his OPS + 145 of ‘21 seems like an outlier now. He is a good player, actually pretty consistent when you look at overall numbers, I just thought after ‘21 he might be a superstar. He is a notch, notch and a half below that, but he isn’t a problem for the team. Yes, we could use 10 more like him.
