Team needs to make wholesale changes to shake things up. Bring up Gonzales, Grandal, and Bae. Send down Triolo, Davis and Olivares (no way they’ll send Taylor).
Shelton's response to the current offensive debacle: "Right now, we're in a little bit of a rut where we need to figure out a spark. We need a base hit that falls. We need something to go through to get us going."
Sit back and wait. The proverbial, rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic as she sinks to the bottom. Now there's leadership for you. I totally agree they need to do something to shake things up but they have a manager who has absolutely no idea what to do.
And while I'm at it, where are the critiques of the three batters in last night's line up hitting below .200? Tellez, who's been criticized regularly, but how about McCutchen and Suwinski, or as my wife calls him as he takes strike after strike, "Doesn't Swingski." And do not say it's too early in the year to consider batting average or other aspects of hitting. These games count every bit as much as ones later in the year and when lost are gone.
Hank just needs to play some some with zero pressure to get the confidence back. He has hit at every level so far so thinking he will in the show too. At least he his doing well behind the dish. The way everyone was talking last season and the off season I was expecting a ton of misplays. So far so good on the D.
The team needs to make wholesale changes regardless. One thing we're finding out now is that, after five years, they're still most of a roster away from being a good team. When this incompetent GM took over, they had two legit major league regulars. Five years later, they have two legit major league regulars.
I truly can’t envision a coaching change not occurring mid season if this offense continues to struggle like this. It almost looks like the players know the “philosophy” isn’t working, but continue to do what they’re told regardless of outcome. They’re just going through the motions. No life, no energy. Lazy fly ball here, ground ball there. The games are over before they even begin.
Shelton’s “we gotta flip the narrative,” whatever that even means, is just a pathetic and lazy response to this level of performance. This team needs leadership and someone who will build a fire under them instead of a yawning acceptance what’s happening.
For once, Greg Brown is right. Lethargic is the best description of this team and allowing that to continue is Shelton’s main weakness, although he certainly has others. It would be really nice if someone, anyone, on this team at least acted like they give a shit.
When this group took over, the players talked about how much better spring training was because they’d get done practicing so much earlier. I don’t know if that’s still the case.
Guys in the booth having a grand old time talking about how far Cruz hit the ball in bp... too bad he swings through the ball 40% of the time at the plate in game
Fell asleep before the game was officially over……stuck on 14 with 132 to go now…….💩💩💩

Need Bae and Gonzo now Grandal a week away yet.
Grandal a week away is better than Davis now, sad.

I saw we have Rockies next, but it's at home. We need to go to Coors and see if we could score a couple runs. No idea what date that is.
Blech.
Tonight was a painful watch

"Flip the narrative" may be Shelton's attempt to coin a phrase like Hurdle's "shower well".
Looks like recording the podcast during the game was the right call...
Oscar Marin running to the mound. Dude has absolutely no ass. When you don't have enough ass to play MLB, you become a coach.... Just an observation.
Did you hear Hannah giving you a mention, and remembering the Gunner!
I heard her but I didn't get it. Every morning I dress in front of a mirror. I know what I see...
When Greg Brown says they’re looking lethargic, you know it’s gotten bad.
For once, Greg Brown is right. Lethargic is the best description of this team and allowing that to continue is Shelton’s main weakness, although he certainly has others. It would be really nice if someone, anyone, on this team at least acted like they give a shit.
Can you tell the A's had the midnight plane back to Calif from Baltimore last night? While the Pirates stayed in their same hotel as with the Giants.
MAT's K rate now at 35%. Since that first fluky week, he's batting .136 with no XBHs.
The A's with good situational hitting, too bad we dont do that
The A's have 2 hitting coaches and a Director of Hitting on the MLB team.
They actually take hitting seriously.
These days it feels that everyone hits better than us, maybe because they do…..
Do we even practice?

Ortiz, get warming up

In golf, there’s a term for that type of player, “Range Pro.”
Look like a Tour Pro on the range, then shoot 80+. We got a lot of 80+ shooters on this team right now.
Falty's command isnt what it needs to be, a couple balls smoked so far
The A's have won series vs. WS Champions Rangers and this weekend vs. O's. They must have some pitching to enable those kind of wins.
Yes, but not from this guy.
Battle of the two lowest payrolls in MLB.
