Well... the Pirates solved their problems with runners on base in the 6th inning tonight. They didn't get anyone on base after the 5th inning.

The also improved upon last night on the first-pitch. Tonight they took, by my count, 13 called first-pitch strikes, beating their mark of 11 last night by 2. 34 PAs... 13 times they watched the first pitch for a strike. You just cannot play baseball this way.

5 hits + 4 walks + 12 strike outs = 2 runs and another loss.

Hope the team plane stops in Indy on the way back....lets a bunch of guys off, brings a couple guys on, including one with a mustache and a lightning bolt for an arm.

Actually kind of interesting Jack didn't start, seeing as he's reversed this year. OPS of .979 vs LHP, and .452 OPS vs RHP

Unfortunately, wouldnt expect us to be on top of a trend like that

Time for a barrage of runs. Haines will unleash the kraken

The Pirates sure are clever... making the As take their crappy starters out and forcing them to bring in their good bullpen guys.

They make no effort whatsoever to control the running game. Brent Rooker just stole a base. That is so pathetic. They have... what... 1 CS all season. This is not a good baseball team at any phase of the game.

And meanwhile our base runners are statues, station to station only.

If I remember correctly, we started last season, super aggressive stealing bases. Now, it's the total opposite. Is there anyone in this organization capable of some form of critical thinking?

Expand full comment

Hey now, that steal made Rooker 5 for 5 in his career

Expand full comment

Really! No f... way. I have to look that one up. and.... I see that you are right... somehow.

I saw first steal of the season and wondered how many he has in his career lol

I'm going to create a milk carton with a picture of Keller's command, because it is missing

It's a SOB, took all the hits with RISP's with it. Might need an old time Wanted Poster with a reward.

Lol well played

Bradenton might finally be able to get some offense going with Harrison and Eddy Rodriguez healthy and maybe put Maguire at the top of the lineup instead of Jesus Castillo. And Forrester not behind the plate please.

And I know he caught Sunday but it’s such a stupid project/idea. Let’s take a good hitter and make him concentrate on the hardest defensive position on the field. Especially when he has a clear path at 1B.

Hilson should probably be released too. I know he’s provided a little bit of offense with his 2 HR but he’s just not very good. Same with Campana, Jerez and Zapata and probably even Jeral Toledo and Braylon Bishop.

I don’t mind keeping one of Toledo/Zapata and one of Campana/Bishop around as a backup defender but imo Suero and Yordany should be in Bradenton. They are the two most talented options.

Miguel Sosa too cause he can be your emergency Catcher instead of Forrester and you can just stop that stupid venture.

So glad BC passed on Alex Wood......I could not watch him for an entire season.....his herky jerky delivery. Plus $8.5M is an overpay imo.

Geesh, we need one of the three A's hitting coaches. They are barreling up Keller.

2 RISP... take a first-pitch called strike... take a called 3rd strike. Hainesball at its finest, and they wonder why they cannot get runners home.

Expand full comment

There’s a point that the hitters have to be accountable. These are grown men, if it’s not working they should be able to make necessary changes.

Keller’s fastball is livelier today.
