Watched one or two innings then realized it didn't matter what the pitchers did. Then watched two or three offensive half-innings only to realize that watching this only made me miserable. My kids stopped watching a week ago. I have to think the myriad of ex-players broadcasting a series or two a month are going to start finding other things to do with their time. How is Brownie even going to get excited - even he admitted that a contending team would have to beat the A's. Now what? I can't stomach it! At least there was some excuse to struggling against Red Sox pitchers but A's pitchers who either couldn't throw a strike or were washed up? Everyone wants to say "this is only April" but its May now and no hope in sight. Miserable excuse for a franchise - Clemente and Wagner are rolling over in their graves.

Quit the MLB Package 5 years ago. I was a terrible fan - I expected much more than the Pirates were able to provide. They are better now than they were then. I am now comfortable that they are very close to having 2/3 of a baseball team - the pitching and defense so far in 2024 has been strong enough to be a .500+ team, but the hitting needs to show consistency.

Tellez and Taylor have not been the answer, and 'Cutch started badly, but has come on strong.

Some of the younger starters like Cruz, Suwinski, and Triolo, have struggled - but they have all shown they can hit at the MLB level. No changes at this point unless it means parting with Tellez and Taylor, or bringing up Grandal.

As many bad Pirates teams as I've seen over the years- for some reason this one nauseates me more than any other. The fact that this is year 5 of Cherrington/Shelton makes the near term future look devoid of almost any hope in my opinion - even with Skenes and Jones. That's how horrid the hitting is in this system.

Bradenton getting no-hit thru 7. Obviously a bunch of these guys are angling for promotions to Pgh.

Now that we know who the PTBNL from the Yankees is let me say the pirates got fleeced again. The player is 20 years old and very small in stature and hasn't played in A ball yet. Like most things the pirates do they screw everything up.

Fleeced? It’s JT, who gives up homers as easily as breathing. Lordy.

Say what you will but they clearly didn't have anyone lined up to sign with that spending capacity.

Which is just another problem with this club. Believe if looked at honestly... it was a salary dump.

How bout letting Jones and Skenes (when he gets here) DH the days they pitch? Could care less if they K'd 75%, they'd take some mean hacks and maybe charge the mound just for fucks sake?!?!

God damn Sam, this team is butt right now.

Zombie Derek: “we didn’t get big hits.”

Like that’s something new. They score the lowest % of their baserunners of any NL team. I honestly don’t think Shelton is paying any attention at all.

They didn't just get swept they got cleaned out. They probably need to file a police report before they leave town. That's the trouble with 'the manager's my buddy' style, there is no one around to kick ass and take responsibility!

Get ready for the usual zombie quotes. We just need a couple key hits. We took good swings but the hits didn’t fall. We’re close to turning this around.

Shelton said they were swinging better after yesterdays snoozer and now I wonder what he meant. Maybe square dancing!

He meant that instead of taking the first strike up and down the lineup all night, they swung at everything: even pitches a foot high and 6 inches wide.

Who is removed from the rotation when Skenes is called up? Quinn hasn’t been terrible this go-around.

I would move Falter to long relief / emergency starter, Ortiz to a setup guy, and Fleming as setup/lefty fireman.

here for this except the ortiz part.

although maybe fresh innings work for him in that role.

The FO office wants to keep Ortiz in a longer relief role. I think if he knew he was in for 1 inning, he could maintain his velocity better and his stuff would play better. He will also need clean bases owing to his 40-grade command and tendency to give up the BB.

Don’t hate it. I’m interested to see who gets removed from the 40-man when the move is made. That could be easily solved by Borucki/Gonzales moving to the 60 day DL though.

I think Falter's funky fastball heavy approach is good for once, maybe twice through the lineup. Long relief suits him best.

Just bring up the whole Indy lineup. They might not be any better, but they sure can’t be any worse. This has been one of the most inept offensive performances I can ever remember.
