Pitching and Defense. Anyone take a look at the number of Ground Balls? 15 - that has to be getting close to a record, especially since two of them went for double plays. We've seen both ends of the pitching spectrum in two wins - Jones with a big number of Strikeouts, and Keller with throwing 15 ground balls, and errorless defensive support from the infield.
I also really like Walker. Walk would be my second favorite but I'm also fine with all of our analysts. Maybe I'm just a homer and can't not like them after rooting for them as players. I think they tend to be better than what I hear from other teams, with the exception of Darling who is the best.
I'm fine w/ Walker. He's a bit of a chatterbox, but he knows what he's talking about, and I really don't mind the enthusiasm, especially compared to sourpusses like Wehner and Walk. Young, on the other hand....It's astonishing to me they let that guy on the air. Could they find a deader sounding voice?
I like Walker and Young both for their knowledge but Walker is hard to listen to for 9 innings and Young reminds me of those 3 hour evening class lectures that I had 40 years ago. They always spoke in a low monotone…..Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Two bright spots: Mitch with a CG 5-hitter. And we are getting a timely hit by different guys in the past 3: Cruz, Jack, and Olivares. Sometimes that gets contagious.
I think he does better with all of his pitchers when it gets warmer. He seems to struggle in cooler weather. Game time temp said about 71 degrees tonight... so we starting to move into Keller season? Maybe?
They inflicted a Nutting on themselves with the Rendon deal. Now they can't cover all their positions with MLB-caliber players, and it has a cascading effect... calling guys up too soon... ruining prospects.. and so forth. Familiar story.
Michael A. Taylor hasn’t had much luck thus far and is striking out too much, but just about every game I’ve seen him play recently he either hits one to the warning track or rips one that has the distance but goes foul. Feels like he’s getting close.
Siani promoted to AA
Mitchie the Kid took care of business. Hope he gets on a roll!

Whoop whoop!!!! 17 down and 126 to go! A new streak is born!!!
Brault does a nice job in postgame.
Dude's a natural. I'd call him up and DFA Neil Walker.
Brault wants the play-by-play job
Five tool player. Can talk pitching, can talk hitting, has the looks, has humor, and can even sing.
I might be the only guy who likes Neil Walker.

A lot of people don’t like Kevin Young but his snoozy soporific drone really keeps my blood pressure down when the Pirates are shitting the bed.
yes - in my opinion that is the point of listening to the game
I also like Young because he is roving hitting instructor on his days off and knows about guys since early in their minor league days
🤣
I was a big Steve Blass fan. Now I would be fine if they rotated announcers.

Crisply played game. Might have been under 2 hours.
1:55 to be exact.
Even got out of work early and still missed the final out. Lol!
Mitchell Thomas Wentworth Dansforth Keller Jr. with one hell of an outing. Great job Mitch!!!
Sounds like a robber baron from the early 20th century...
"BELVIDERE! Come here boy!"
Pride of Cedar Rapids, IA
I can’t even tell if that is half truth or what with the name
No. His real name is Mitchard with no middle name.
Vintage Mitch tonight.
#RaiseIt
Mitch getting the 8th? Pitch count says yes.
Assuming he doesn't get into trouble in the 8th, the big question is the 9th.
Mitch Keller with the HEAT tonight.

But not many whiffs. Is he good enough to draw weak contact consistently?
I don’t know how much of it is mental, but Oneil sure does get frequent visits from the training staff..
His facial expressions make it look like he is hurt most of the time.
Love how our coaches baby these guys. Good grief.
I hope Cruz isn’t one of those fragile players.
Didnt look like a bad pitch on gameday…
Keller caught too much of the plate.
Moniak, Tucker, Calhoun -- LAA is like the island of lost prospects.

The signing that everyone knew would be bad the day it was consummated. Needed pitching, not him.
it'll take a hell of a lot more than Anthony Rendon's salary to fix that club, brother.
Yeah. They are a trainwreck.

I wonder how many of those were homers for him in Minnesota last year.
