Gameday 42: Pirates travel to New York for three against the Mets
Paul Skenes vs David Peterson
After taking two of three against the Atlanta Braves, the Pittsburgh Pirates will head to New York to face another NL East team, the Mets.
Joey Bart walked things off on Mother’s Day, giving the Pirates their first series win since April when they beat the Angels. Carmen Mlodzinski pitched 5.2 innings of shutout baseball, but didn’t end up with the decision.
Placed at the top of the order with Oneil Cruz day-to-day, Ke’Bryan Hayes responded with two hits in five at-bats.
Paul Skenes will kick off the series against the Mets on Monday. He will face lefty David Peterson. The Mets are scheduled to have former Pirate Clay Holmes start on Wednesday.

Yesterday’s Feature
Live from Bradenton: Levi Sterling tosses five innings, Cesar Aquino, and Eddie Rynders triple
So, after a long and exhausting week, I ran from LECOM at the first sight of rain, so there will be no report from whatever happens for the Marauders on Saturday.
Today’s Feature
10 Observations: Reinold Navarro velocity, Konnor Griffin defense, Draft picks not playing
Murphy 5/5: Talked to a scout about left-handed pitcher Reinold Navarro, who pitched on Monday at the Complex. He mentioned the fastball sat around 94-96, and topped right under 98. Not bad for an 18-year-old left-handed pitcher who was making his debut stateside.

Is it possible Davis will never get another hit?
Birdbrain’s failed offseason in a microcosm. No offense, bullpen can’t do the job.
