I don't mind seeing Davis percolate a bit in the minors but a part of me thinks that even a flawed Davis helps the MLB team more than a career minor leaguer. The goal should always be for winning up top. The sad thing is the terrible mess they made of Davis with how they have handled him since he was drafted. If they had just had him catch through the minors he would be better off. Even if they had him just DH or just play 1B or OF he would have been better off.
Henry is fine behind the plate, but looking lost at the plate. I saw him in Indy yesterday. His stance and approach looks no different than when he was struggling in the majors. His results are much better in Indy, but I'm afraid it is not helping him prepare for the majors.
2024. You pay closer to attention to detail than I do, but to me it seems like his weight is on his heels and would not be able to get to an outside fast ball.
I had really been looking forward to watching after being blacked out from the Braves series, but the silver lining is that if it's a doubleheader, then our starters might go the distance or at least only need Holderman and Bednar to close out the games. And it almost guarantees Koch will make his major league debut, which I'm not excited about but I am happy for him and his family.
I wonder if they split up Jones and Skenes tomorrow with Falter? Giving one of them a little more rest and by having a totally different look for the Tigers.
It might not be a bad idea to essentially skip a start for Jones to save some innings for later in the season. I don't have a lot of hope that we'll be in a pennant race (FG has us at under 10% chance of making the playoffs, the lowest in the division), but there's still value in Jones being able to pitch through September this year if '25 is going to be the year we finally contend.
They should definitely skip a start for Jones and/or Skenes at some point this season (maybe later on when Burrows is back? Or Marco? Not at the same time of course. But I think that’s a better way to manage innings, rather than the abbreviated 3 inning balderdash every 5 days.
Years ago, Detroit (and Leyland) broke in Rick Porcello in just like this. I think it was 2009, he was 20 and had ripped through the minors and won a spot in ST. And he got about a 2-3 week break around the AS break, and came back right in the rotation.

This is just until Delay is ready, probably only a few days.

2023 stance or 2024 stance?

Forgoing said trade, Henry’s near term future with our team is served at dh or first base

Straight doubleheader tomorrow, so BC gets lucky and can activate a 27th man.

This honestly makes a lot of sense to me

I was thinking Jones for the extra rest.
Postponed. That there's some bullshit. Apparently a straight double header manana
back to the casino it is.
Gonna walk around looking for Helena Bonham Carter and ed norton
The 1st rule of meeting Helena Bonham Carter & Ed Norton is to not talk about HBC & Ed Norton
It's okay if I think about HBC, right?
Skubal surrendered 35 homers in ‘21, 17 since, over 3 years of starts…
That's an insane number!
Lotsa pirates fans wandering around the Hollywood casino this afternoon....hope they did better than me. But a good win would perk me up some
who does Koch replace on the 40 man?
Move Marco to the 60-day IL maybe.
Guessing Marco or Borucki will move to the 60 day.
It's my pre-season parlay facing off tonight!! Jones ROY and Skubal AL Cy Young!
I’m jealous of that parlay. I thought I was slick getting Jones 40-1 for ROY…I am guessing you are well above 100-1 with the ALCY
I got +17000 on it lol wish I bet more than $5
I am officially cheering for this parlay the same way I enjoy living vicariously through my children’s success in sports
A big Bucco win by torching Skubal and chasing him early ouldmsend the Parlay up in flames 😁
just wanted to deliver your monthly reminder that now is the absolute best time to sign ONeil Cruz to a long term extension
They won’t because they blew all the money on Reynolds/Keller. But I absolutely agree with you.
That’s because 30 mil combined into two players will sink any club financially. Oh wait, no it won’t.
The painful realities of being a Pirates fan.
Cruz and skenes would be one heck of a duo to lockup for likely well under what they will get in a few years
both are perenial MVP / Cy Young candidates
lets go bucs!
Literally on my way to this game, and the one tomorrow. Hope the weather cooperates. Could be some epic pitching.
Bring home some wins please!
I hope Jones and Skenes rewards your effort, lol.
That's awesome! Some good pitching this series. Have fun!
