Apparently he was throwing his fastball to the wrong places but Shelton didn't think there was any chance he should have mixed in more sliders because he's dumb.
Quite a job. Every post-game he does the Obi-Wan routine. “These aren’t the minor leaguers you’re looking for.” It was the pitching, it was bad luck, it was the weather.
Funny how when any Cherington guys — Nick, Falter, Joe — do well, they inevitably regress downward. But his sub-replacement flotsam — Grandal, Tellez, MAT — never regresses upward. Cherington is so incompetent he defeats the laws of chance.
What's worse, four years of the Bucs wasting Skenes and Jones with no playoff wins to show for it, or four years of the Angels wasting Trout and Ohtani with no playoff success?
I don't mind the Daulton Jeffries acquistion, but the way the Pirates try to find lightning in a bottle sometimes is unreal. When I was in Indy I watched him start 2 minor league games. He pitched 9 inning and gave up 17 baserunners. They give him one more outing and promote him to the majors.
I thought the Pirates could have Roansy and Jeffries both, but that wasn't my point. My point it is pretty obvious that guys like Heller and Jeffries were not ready for the majors, by the way they were performing in Indy.
Never underestimate Ben Cherington. Ben's thinking "how do you get them to stop asking for some hitting, make them want more pitching." "Hope nobody looks how Contreras is doing."
Dairy Queen Derek postgame: "I was proud of the fact they kept playing when they were down a bunch"
As if he expected them to quit lol.
Well... it is slightly better than walking off the field to the locker room and forfeiting the game, so he has a point.
What happened to Falter in the 4th? Shelton said the word execution 3 times.

Dude gets paid to make excuses for a living.

that used to be Russel´s job before Hurdle arrived
Probably Falter should be our longman when Perez comes back but we're still just short one starter. Skenes, Keller, Jones, Perez and...
And ...next year.
Maybe Domingo German can get there.
Falter once thru the order, then.....Ortiz.
If I was David Bell I'd walk Gonzales to face Ke'Groundout Hayes here.
Dumb crowd just worked a strike call from the ump there.
Elly De la Cruz would have turned that into a double.
nice hit Cruz vs a lefty
I'm so sick of Grandal already

Glad I missed this one during wife TV time.
Hope you got laid.
LOL we have a toddler who's on summer break from preschool so fat chance of that.
Shelton is probably trying everything he can to keep the bullpen game arms off the field.

Skenes and Jones because I give a shit about the Pirates?
$60M to Trout and Ohtani makes it much worse!

Would rather have Contreras. And it's not close.
Cherington's moves this off-season and this season with the bullpen defy all reason. He is a complete moron.

It’s hard being a fan of this team sometimes.
The CWS is much more entertaining unless you like the Reds.
I _hate_ the Reds
#7 for Vols had a nice arm, nice stuff.
I want us to get Burke at 37 or 47, would like them to grab Appel from A&M later in the draft.
A&M stayed too long with 53.
Soft tossing LH not who you need to hold the Vols.
Yep, 5 run lead fills pretty safe, but not entirely lol
All LH coming out of both pens. Surprising.
Ugly throw by Olivares.
I'd have thought ideally you'd only want to use one of your 7/8 bullpen arms every now and then. Not both in the same inning.
It's the 5th inning, the white flag part of the game when trailing.
Two white flags come out in the 6th.
And I forgot about Jeffries. He went with the three worst arms possible

4.46 FIP and 5 BB in 13 IP but a .170 AVG against too.
