Would the Orioles not do this being so SP depleted? https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/trades/191862

Would yous guys trade Bednar for Tigers int'l signing Cris Rodriguez?

> 12. Cris Rodriguez, RF

Signed: International Signing Period, 2025 from Dominican Republic (DET)

Age 17.1 Height 6′ 4″ Weight 200 Bat / Thr R / R FV 45

Tool Grades (Present/Future)

Hit Raw Power Game Power Run Fielding Throw

20/40 60/70 25/60 50/40 30/55 60

Perhaps the most physically impressive prospect in the 2025 international class, Rodriguez is built like a young Larry Fitzgerald and signed with the Tigers for a little more than $3 million. He became enormously strong over the year or so leading up to the 2025 signing day, and he puts on quite a show during BP. Rodriguez has plus power right now and is very likely grow into even more as he keeps filling out. His is a turbo-charged right field profile with enormous power and arm strength, akin to a high school player who would go in the mid-to-late first round of any given draft. His hit tool and contact ability garner mixed reviews from scouts, as his lever length and opposite-field tendency might be an issue against pro velo. A corner-only fit on defense combined with hit tool risk creates a low floor for the profile, but 30-plus homer upside exists if Rodriguez can actually hit. Tigers fans have heard this refrain before, as many of their recent high-profile signees are K-prone corner guys, but while Rodriguez shares this sort of risk, he has a different level of physical projection than the others.

Get their compA pick as well and draft Taitn Gray. Then you have two 17 year olds with potential plus plus power.

Gray had the second highest average

exit velocities at the mlb combine, tied for most hits over 400ft, ran 3.8 30yard which is above average to plus, and he's a switch hitter (rh high exit velo 112+ / lh high exit velo 114+), had throws to second at 84mph to 86mph (he's a catcher/ outfielder) and he was a youth national weight lifting champion.

Pirates are now 25-24 under Kelly.

The Pirates have been held scoreless while Skenes is on the mound in six of his starts.

Honestly, I've always wondered what the downside was. The best, most athletically gifted guys should get moved fast so they get more hype and can be traded for more. Cherington has no testicles, however.

Love that swing! And the fact that he ran around the bases like he has done that before, no showboating, no 45 second HR jont. Really excited about this kid

double ear helmet too

All minor leaguers wear double ear helmets, only players with single sided helmets are active mlb players on rehab assignments.

Love these highlights. OK, it was a belt-high meatball, but he did not miss it.

And, yes, we have to convince the announcers to go with Adonis. Forget this Edward nonsense.

BTW, it always strikes me how few fans are in the stands at these minor league games. I admire the prospects for giving their all in a less than inspiring atmosphere.

WRT fans showing up, summer day games in Greensboro and especially Bradenton can be a bear to sit through. Your cold beer at the concession stand is warm by the time you get back to your seat ;)

I agree, though, that one of the hardest thing minor leaguers have to do is give their best day in and day out despite little energy from the fans and the weather. One reason why any player who just makes it to the majors deserves a ton of respect and credit.

MLB Pipeline has updated their top 100 prospects. Chandler has fallen back slightly to 5. Griffin jumped from 31 to 13. Harrington and Termarr are out of the top 100 altogether.

Edit: I missed Barco at 80.

how is a guy with a .750 ops the #3 prospect in the league?

also why do they even have anthony, mayer, burns, caglianone still on the list?

Expand full comment
JRC21's avatar

Because they retain their prospect status technically as they don’t have enough big league service time. I prefer the Keith Law approach, which is not to include anyone presently in the majors when he updates his list.

As for DeVries, he is 18 years old in A+. So he’s the same age as Florentino, but one level higher. And he plays a premium position.

The closest thing this team will get to adding a bat is if Termarr Johnson gets hot and gets promoted after something like a Frazier injury in September.
